yogisballin Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Unfortunately it looked like the refs were trying to make up for that call the rest of the game for Kansas. That last Thomas Bryant foul was horrible Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersThis also very trueSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
yogisballin Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 OG had a "meh" game in some people's eyes. He went for 13 points on 3-7 shooting... Added 7 rebounds too. If JBJ (26 points) and Bryant (19 points) are being featured like tonight then OG and JMo can do their thing. This team can be stupid good with a core of JBJ, Bryant, and OG. If you try to takeaway JBJ then you have OG and Bryant with JMo doing the dirty work. Take away OG there's Bryant and JBJ. I think there is enough star power between the three and a deep enough second tier of JMo, CuJo, and RoJo that opponents will wear down. Newkirk, Davis, and eventually Green will be plenty as a supporting cast. This team could be extremely deep. I haven't watched it again yet but they looked to shut down OG in the 2nd half. I think he took 2 shots? Hit the early 3 then the airball. Can't say I blame them eitherSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners ALASKA HOOSIER and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
Bobman1 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I woke up this morning and still can't believe that happened. Awesome team win. It's great to see a lot of guys on this team know their role, and they can step in and hit the big shot when they need to. We just put up 103 points on Kansas... Our offensive display was a great thing to watch. And limit the number of FT's and we actually play pretty good defense too. I know we shouldn't get too invested into early season games on the Hawaiian Isles but man this team is fun to watch. They all look like they're connected too and a real team. Can't wait to see where this road goes. Go HoosiersSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners ALASKA HOOSIER and FortWayneHoosier 2 Quote

Sota Hoosier Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 OG's 3/7 shooting was all threes. No twos attempted. He settled a couple times but KU also challenged anyone but him to beat them and JBJ did just that.Great team win with some sloppy play on a slippery court. Loved how JBJ played and his mindset of "I'm still here" that was great.I think we'll clean up some of the TOs as many seemed to be early season jitters. If we can offensive rebound like that and make the bunnies we'll be a tough beat for anyone.Although I thought the broadcast was KU-favored, likely due to them playing Duke on ESPN on Tuesday, it was great that Bilas was lauding the IU player development program. Alford Bailey Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Thinking bout the game again in the deer stand this morning. We had a bunch of mistakes (first game I know) and still beat a top 5 Kansas team. The guys just keep playing. They want to win. Im confident with about any group Crean puts out there. And what about Creans job of coaching going back to the second half of last year? I just cant find anything to criticize him on any more. VO5, BGleas, ALASKA HOOSIER and 1 other 4 Quote

Popular Post GnarlyNormEllenberger Posted November 12, 2016 Popular Post Posted November 12, 2016 A few quick thoughts on this one... - This was a game that was won with "heart", you know? Didn't necessarily play our best in multiple facets of the game, but our effort made up for it. I love what seems to be the mindset of this team. Seems to be picking up where they left off from last year and moving forward with it. - Hats off to Blackmon. Let's hope Big Game James keeps it up. Proud of that guy. - Bryant can be dominant. He got us started on the right foot. - Love, love, love Juwan Morgan. Had a nice stat line that still didn't accurately portray how much of an effect he had on the game. Talented and versatile. Love waht he brings to the table. - OG didn't even play to his potential. But it's coming... :) - Johnson and Newkirk both had moments of frustration, but they both made some huge plays and showed a lot of toughness and grit. - Great job by the freshmen. All of them made some BIG plays for us. Very impressed by their composure. - Jay Bilas was really talking up Crean and our program last night. That is great publicity. Enjoy it, folks. Great way to start the season. Don't put TOO much stock into this one as we have a LONG way to go, but I'm telling you... this team has potential to accomplish great things. I think he was just as caught off guard as the rest of the country at how much talent IU has. He was all about KU early on, but as the game went on he starting talking highly of IU.It was eye opening for me that we are missing a likely starter and still went 10 deep comfortably. As long as we play fast without getting in a hurry, this is potentially a top 5 team in the country. Quote

KingPG21 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Great start to the season! Bryant looked really good, Morgan was good creating and filling the stat sheet. JBJ shot incredibly, looking forward to the year. Quote
biteoftheapple Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Both Newkirk and Rojo can, and will play better. Defensive ball pressure needs to be better. The frosh that played showed grit, determination, and the ability to be clutch. We need better defensive rotation, how many times did Thomas get sealed for an over the top play? I loved our toughness and determination. We are going to get better in everyway. ALASKA HOOSIER and Stuhoo 2 Quote
Scooter D Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 My take away from last nights game, is that this team is a team in every sense of the word. And the beauty is that they are not going to be dependent on one man (like a Frank Mason) to win games. They are going to take advantage of what the defense is giving them and if that mean JBJ leading the way, or OG or TB or RoJo or CuJo or JW or inside game or outside game...whatever, that is fine with them. Clearly they have some thing to work on, but it was game 1, so I am not too concerned yet. I am sure Crean has a plan in plcae to work on those items. Great win. Look forward to see how this team evolves. Oh yeah...and the refs have some work to do as well. Great game, but horribly refed. ALASKA HOOSIER, HoosierAloha, Class of '66 Old Fart and 1 other 4 Quote
AKHoosier Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Our last 2 wins have come against Kentucky and Kansas. If we go ahead and beat North Carolina and Louisville this year, that's a big step in becoming a "sexy" program for recruits again. Alford Bailey, HoosierAloha, ALASKA HOOSIER and 2 others 5 Quote
incrediboy Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 This was the first game I've seen this year. I was suitably impressed by our depth and interchangeable parts. We have a lot of talent, and it appears the chemistry hasn't suffered with the departure of Yogi, Nick and Max, all three of whom I thought were crucial to last year's team chemistry. Bryant is a monster, and OG was stunning in that he has filled out physically without negatively impacting his touch on the ball. Blackmon still has some miles to go defensively, but at crunch time that didn't impact the game, and he's certainly still the elite scorer he was before getting hurt. RoJo appeared out of place without Yogi at his side, but I think he'll find his way, and if he doesn't, Jones appears to be ready for prime time already. The fact that we weren't able to close it out in regulation was a bit disturbing, but the fact that we pulled it out with Bryant having fouled out makes me optimistic that we don't have a "close the deal" crisis. Bottom line: We beat a very good team. We have a very good team. We also have a very well-coached team. If we can stay healthy we're a contender to hang another banner. Dalton26 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I didn't see a win in this game coming. I figured it would be close but this was one of the 4 losses I predicted and I'm glad to say I was wrong. This team is beyond exciting and CuJo is the man.
