Judge in Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby's lawsuit against NCAA recused himself. Judge Phillip Hays, a Lubbock native with two Tech degrees, didn't give a reason. Replacement to be picked by administrative judge with degrees from A&M and Baylor, but not Tech. Not a moot point to me! Jude Hays recused himself because he has integrity to have made the personal determination that his ties to the university ethically disqualified him or would have tarnished any decision he might have made. Kudos to Judge Phillip Hays. Dave from Dayton, AZ Hoosier, cybergates and 5 others 8 Quote

Heard a guy from Sportico on SiriusXM College this morning say he thinks Sorsby gets suspended for 6 games and is allowed to finish out the season. 1) That would be an insane ruling. Burn it all down if he's allowed to play another snap in college. 2) Tech's 7th game is against......Cincinnati. 3) Does Tech even want to deal with that? Probably, but...why? Quote

Insane ruling if that's what happens. But they are desperate, and it's perceived with their defense and Sorsby it is supposed to be their year. Likely hoping they can coast thru the first 6 games then return Sorsby and make a stronger statement to get into the playoffs as a high seed. Not sure I am convinced they will be much more than they were last year. Their offense was stagnant, and I guess Sorsby will improve that, but their coaching doesn't necessarily impress me (and didn't they lose someone key on their defensive staff?). Quote

iu2win Posted May 20 Posted May 20 There absolutely MUST be consequences for Sorsby (or any other college football player who bets on his own team). Any way you slice it, he had to be knowledgeable enough to realize he was risking his college playing career when he made that first bet. Likely didn't bet on himself becoming worth millions and now has regret over it. He should never again play college football. An NFL team willing to risk Sorsby making more poor choices in the future is on them. I hope for the best for the young man. Hope he can learn from his mistakes, move on to a pro team who will have him, and keep things within the rules moving forward. Hardwood83 and Pagoda 2 Quote

Lebowski Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Did Kirby Smart's comments about the SEC leaving the NCAA/CFB Playoff and creating its own league (take his ball and go home) just sabotage his own program? I would think he just made it incredibly easy for other schools in recruiting. As a coach/recruiter it kind of sells itself, am I wrong? Just point out to the recruit that over the last three years the SEC hasn't been in the CFP final and the last SEC coach that won the CFP wants to create its own league because he doesn't like the current state of things. I think we just might be watching the SEC self implode. go iu bb and skhoosier2 2 Quote

Galen Clavio and Matt Blaszka discussed this SEC v Big 10 CFP issue and the general concern for the whole state of college football/sports in yesterday’s Football Weather podcast on the BHN. It’s worth a listen imho. Edited 5 hours ago by rayl456 Quote
