I don't know if Romeo will go to Vandy or not.  I haven't heard any specifics on illegal recruiting at Vandy.  On the other hand, the circumstances of them suddenly attracting multiple top-10 players out of the blue is highly unusual and reason for suspicion IMO.

Given the speed the ncaa moves at you won't hear anything on illegal recruiting at vandy for another 10 years. Drew will be long gone by then and onto another job. Vandy beat out cheaters north Carolina and Arizona who pays players for shittu. I have a hard time believing this was a pure as gold recruitment. It's very very suspicious but as I said drew will be gone when the s hits the fan.

My bad. I didn't realize that adults are no longer allowed to make jokes. Adults are still allowed to make the same melodramatic point in every single recruiting thread on this forum.

This is literally just lightning in a bottle for Vandy and the worst possible luck for Indiana. Drew had a relationship with Garland since the 3rd grade and ends up taking a job in his backyard. Garland happens to be a extremely talented and charismatic player that other great players want to play next to. Drew wasn't recruiting Romeo Langford until the Langford family ASKED him to get involved..... the Vandy insider Chris Smith is willing to stake his reputation on the inside info he's receiving, that Romeo's commitment is a done deal and eminent. So far he's 2 for 2. Others are crystal balling based off of the info he's providing them with. I personally believe him. ZERO chance Romeo's family allows him to play his last season in front of IU faithful as a Vandy recruit..... He has 1 foot in the door at Vanderbilt. It's not hard to see that based off of the information that circulating. There isn't any funny business going on IMO. Personally that claim bothers me, quite a bit. I get tired of hearing how Indiana is clearly the greatest option for every kid, yet when we miss on them, the only logical explanation is "they cheatin!"  Let's lose with some class for once. I'm personally going to be a fan of the kid's regardless of where he plays his 1 year of college ball. At the end of the day he's still an Indiana high school legend who will go onto much bigger and better things regardless of his college choice. 
 
Some perspective: 
We aren't even in the galaxy of having this discussion right now without Archie and the current staff. We are in great hands. Personally, his decision won't affect my level of excitement as to the direction this program is going. I hope others can let the ether settle a tad and take the same approach. 

This seems to make 100% sense to me. I am not seeing us win Romeo right now either based on circulating rumors.

I'll be watching our guys on the court either way.

IU wasn’t a serious option before Crean was fired. Anyone with a brain knows that. The interest in IU with Archie is absolutely legit

Guys it’s not doomsday. Romeo hasn’t committed to either Vanderbilt or Kansas. And IU is still just as much in the driver’s seat. He knows what it would mean to play at IU and restore that program. Just be patient. Don’t buy into all the rumors. It’ll make you go mad. I’m just waiting till he commits. Not gonna get caught up in rumors

I'm not saying it wasn't legit interest but I think we are now in 3rd place. I'd be shocked if he picked iu at this point.

I thought you were done with picking these guys to iu? You have to admit things look bad for iu now but we gave it a good shot.

Shittu and Garland obviously have an affect on the recruitment, but not in a package deal type of way. It’s about who he is going to play with. Yes two top 15 guys is going to be very attractive to team up with. But look at our roster and who we have coming in. It’s not like we are devoid of talent. We have a top level recruiting class coming in and a decent amount of talent on the roster already. I still think IU with Romeo is a better team than Vandy with Romeo. RL is going to do what is best for his future. Schilling, Archie, Cliff, Cook Hall, Our fan base, national exposure, and more put us in a great light. Especially for Romeo to be the man. He would be who Eric Gordon was supposed to be(and who should’ve been). I think that is something that can’t be underrated.

No I was gonna be done with hanging on every word of every statement. Only drive yourself mad if you do that. I don’t think things look bad at all for IU. These two guys could literally mean nothing to Romeo

I never thought vandy would get two top 10 guys so fldo t be surprised if they get three. Remember vandy thinks it's a done deal. Normally I'd say no way but they have been right on so far.

This isn't an actual reason. We all just watched a 5 minute highlight video of Romeo getting trash talked by the crowd and opponents and him not even batting an eye in response. This "take" drastically overrates the amount of IU fans in southeastern Indiana that would actually be vocal because some kid is going to a non rival of IU.

IU will be fine with or without Romeo. We've got the right coach and he already has some really talented guys coming in next year. RL may still come to IU but if he doesn't at least Archie got us this far. We are in contention for a bunch of high-level '19 guys and should feel very good about that.

I don't understand the Vandy thing either but it is what it is. If Vandy was Adidas it would make more sense to me but I think that's a good reason to think IU hast a legit shot. We'll see.

It's been mentioned that although humble, Romeo prefers the lion's share of the spotlight. At face value that statement can be read to make him seem like a selfish person, which he's not at all. But to showcase himself, it makes sense. He will not be as much "on display" at Kansas amid a stacked roster. At Vandy, Garland and Shittu are two other top 15s that will get a lot of attention, but not much of a supporting cast behind that.

 

IU has no top 10s to compete with, but will have a very solid supporting cast of experienced players and a wealth of 4 star newcomers around him, which would be more than Vandy has to offer aside from Garland and Shittu. It depends on how you view things, sure. But IU could have the balance that would benefit Romeo the most. Only time will tell. But until then, I look forward to tracking his senior year.

I've heard a lot of pro IU things with Romeo. At one point I thought for sure that Romeo would attend an Adidas school. It's still possible that he does but I won't be one bit surprised if he ends up at Vandy.

On a side note, something seems off. There are two theories to Vandy's uptick in recruiting for 2018. The first is an alpha dog in Garland persuading a few buddies to join him at Vandy. The other involves something not smelling right.

There have been lots of "alpha dogs" out there in past years but it's not often that they convince other elite players to join up with them - at a non-basketball school especially. My money would go toward smelly door #2 in this situation.
