Let it just play out. If he does go to Vandy, good for him. He will be there for one year and it’s in a different conference so very little impact on us. Archie didn’t have adequate time to establish a relationship with him and we are still in it til the end.

If we do get him then awesome and we will be that much better. I prefer to focus on the slew of guys we COULD land in ‘19 as Archie has/will have more time to develop meaningful relationships with them. And, unless I’m severely mistaken, those individuals seem more likely to be around for at least 2 seasons before trying their hands at the NBA/Overseas.

I've always laughed at this excuse.

It doesn't take Calipari long to build relationships when he goes to new schools.

Just have to build a staff and have the right connections that are willing to get the job done.

Relationships are important in clean recruitments. And, they do exist but not for the guys we dream of getting.

Yup, relationships haven’t stopped Will Wade from signing a bunch of 5*’s at LSU. He was hired about the same time as Archie. This isn’t meant as a criticism of Archie, just a general statement on your point about relationships.

Building relationship with Romeo in this case is something I wouldn’t laugh about. It goes deeper then trying to build a relationship with a top recruit. CAM is trying to build a relationship with a top player nationally which is also from the state of Indiana. Building a relationship with Romeo might not land him but it plants the seed to other Indiana recruits, high school coaches, and parents involved that IU’s approach is different from years past and inside out is for real. Maybe building a relationship isn’t important to Romeo but in my opinion it’s more important for CAM to show the rest of the state that it is important to him

Good point.  Crean seemed to get in quite early on a number of young, yet unkown players and when they "blew up" they dropped us like a hot potato.  No doubt part of it was FCTC's personality, some went with offers from hotter programs, but I have no doubt several chased the "swag".

Sounds like you guys are giving up. Maybe this is actually a dirty recruitment and archie doesn't want any part of it in this environment. Drew got shittu so gutter tactic recruiting does not bother him. I'd by awfully nervous is shittu was signed with iu right now. I'd live to know how much Miller offered him and if vandy followed suit.

Glass half empty: he notified our staff of where he stands.

Hasn't been any public contact since this game. If Archie goes to watch another game that will tell us a lot.

He may decide when he watched us we weren’t for him, but I just don’t see him traveling to see us against Northwestern to say no thanks. A big name opponent? Sure I could see a free ticket. Northwestern? I truly think he was just watching for due diligence. Maybe our offers are similar? $150k from each Vandy and us and he wanted to compare.

I completely agree. I was trying to make the point if all things are equal in the discussion to Wayne. As he feels all 5* recruitments are dirty. I feel most are, but to what level Wayne and I vary, but it was merely a talking point for what we were discussing.
