(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

Recommended Posts

People think that if he announces at the McDonald's All-American game that he will probably commit to Vandy since Garland will be there. Isn't there a good possibility that he's not gonna care at all what Garland thinks about his choice and be just fine with committing to IU at the game? Like I've seen before, he could be all about IU and know that announcing at the game, wherever he goes, puts that school and his brand on a stage in itself. I'd like to think his own college choice/future will sit well above making someone "mad" about his college decision.

Struck me as odd when Romeo said he may announce his choice at the McDonald's game, or around that time, because if that's the case, then he really hasn't made his decision yet, as some seem to think.  I could see him not announcing at the all-star game if it's not Vanderbilt because of Garland being there at the game.

Not really. Just because he is undecided when to announce doesn't automatically mean he is undecided where he is going.

When, where, and how to announce is as much of the process as anything else.

I think he's going to Vanderbilt and he knows it. Why not just come out and say a long time ago if you're going to Indiana? Why keep everyone in the state waiting if you know you want to go to Indiana? I think it's because he didn't want to be booed at his ball games and High School. I think that's also why he stayed after 2 hours every game to sign autographs. That way he can say look I love the state of Indiana see how giving I was kind of to console us that he doesn't go to IU. Now I could be dead wrong, I admit it but that's just how it looks to me. That's how I would handle it if I knew I wasn't wanting to go to the state school. Could be he's just really torn by this decision.

Because as multiple people have said, this is what Romeo and his family said they were gonna do. That usually doesn’t mean much. But with the Langford’s, they’ve followed everything to perfection. They’ve stuck to their guns and not wavered. It’s not to lead on people with his decision. Him and his family are doing due diligence

Why not just announce for Vanderbilt in the fall and get it over with? That way he could go through the season with less attention and pressure much like Kris Wilkes, Kyle Guy, Gary Harris, Jaren Jackson Jr, Trey Lyles, Trevon Bluiett, Gary Harris, and countless others. Could you point me to videos of the above players being booed because they did not go to IU? Any evidence at all would be greatly appreciated, since this is not the first time someone has posted this unsubstantiated thought.

I don't have any proof that this is the way he's thinking never said I did. Just my thoughts on it. I could be completely wrong. I hope I am. Depends on how you look at the situation. Could be he's made his mind up he wants to go to Indiana hence the close meetings between Bill self and the Vanderbilt trip. Just kind of to get them out of the way so he can keep his commitments.

It literally makes zero sense that this is all to avoid upset Indiana fans. He didn’t mind upsetting IU fans when Crean was the coach. Why even let Archie in the door if he already knew he didn’t want to go to IU?

The idea that this is all to avoid upset IU fans is completely unfounded. Even if it was a realistic thing, why would Langford go so far to build up expectations unnecessarily of a fan base he at the same time he doesn’t want to upset? He could have just said “thanks, but no thanks” to Archie.

If a decision is already made but he’s delaying because he worried about upsetting IU fans, then why is Tim Langford talking about visiting IU again? Makes no sense, he’s just getting the hopes up of a fan base many are saying he doesn’t want to upset.

Ding ding ding. The backlash he's going to get if he commits to Vandy at this point is far greater than it would have been if he would have committed in the fall and not seriously considered IU.

And his quest for the scoring record and state title would have been infinitely less stressful.

I just can't get over seeing the "He didn't want to announce against IU before the high school season take." This is perhaps the most stoic, level headed 17 year old highly ranked recruit I've ever seen. He never shows emotion, even in the face of heckling student sections, cheap shot fouls, and constant attention from strangers and the media. And yet we still get a parade of the same uninspired take.

Yep.  I've been saying that all along.  If was going to Vandy the time to commit was a few months ago when Garland did.  If he does now it's obvious that he's known all along but was just stringing us along and will deserve all the backlash he gets.

This is pretty cool,” Garland said. “Me and Romeo, we have a great connection. We have played together (in AAU). It’s cool. I met (four-star Vanderbilt signee) Aaron (Nesmith) for the first time yesterday, and I am looking forward to building a relationship with both of them.”
That comment from Garland bothers me a little though

Shows me that Garland isn’t as good of friends with Romeo that has been led on. If they are such good friends like he claimed in the past then why is he looking forward to building a relationship with him. That relationship should of already been built

Think Garland just likes to talk and say whatever will benefit him the most in his current situation.

Our crowd is spectacular. They are very knowledgeable," Drew said. "They know when to cheer, when not to cheer, and when our team needs it. There is no question that our players feed off that and play with much more energy.” LMAO
