No, he did deliberately troll IU. He made up his mind to go to Vanderbilt weeks before he committed and only went on his OV here to get closer go Romeo. Garland gave a deliberately deceptive interview to Rabjohns making it seem like IU was the favorite less than two weeks before he announced his decision.

And after he went on to say IU wasn't even second UCLA was

I get the feeling it wasn't all him. I suspect his dad was very involved in all of this.

Agree completely.  His dad was the one feeding Rabjohns for the last week of the recruitment.  Shade...

For all we know, his dad may be pulling all the strings with Darius. Pretty sickening for Winston to claim his IU fandom and love for Bob Knight and then knife us in the back.

What I suspect, is that he was a RMK fan and hates IU for firing him.

Their are many people out there that think like that. I know UK, UofL, and Purdue fans, who claim that they were IU fans in the Knight era.

Sounds reasonable to me and I think you're right.

How does one grow up rooting for IU and switch to its arch rivals? I don’t care what is going on with the program, that makes no sense

I would not be shocked. Kids usually listen to parents.

Because they weren't really IU fans, they were Knight fans. Kind of like Colts fans who were actually Peyton Manning fans and now root for the Broncos or some other team.

I really don't get comments like this.. The kid was 17 years old. What makes you think he deliberately trolled IU? You think he took the time to do these things just to mess with the IU fanbase intentionally for what reason exactly? He must be some kind of diabolical sociopath.
I'm going out on a limb here... Maybe he was excited about all the love he was getting? Maybe it was a really tough decision for him that came down to the wire, but ultimately he thought the better choice for himself and his family was to go to Vandy?

Yeah I feel the same as u. I don’t feel he deliberately trolled us bc maybe it was a tough decision. We don’t really know?? I think comments like that from IUDL are “childish”

Well, you are wrong. Garland made his mind up to go to Vandy weeks before he committed. If you watched this recruitment closely it was clear the IU staff and media were being led on by the family.

Thanks for the defense, Iugradman.  I just wrote what I watched unfold.  For those who followed the recruitment, it was quite clear what happened. I'm not making up the "childish" stuff, so ease up.

Please tell me how you know he made up his mind to go to Vanderbilt WEEKS before the interview...

His family led the IU staff and media on? For what reason? Proof? Recruits and families are put on the spot to talk about specific programs, so they say nice things about the programs pursuing them in interviews. I have yet to ever see a recruit say, "man that Kentucky staff has been real annoying with the phone calls," or, "yeah I like Purdue, but that coach at Butler is way better." It doesn't happen. All of these recruiting battles come down to the wire and most high major recruits have a list of 2 or 3 schools in the mix. To say some kid deliberately trolled IU just reeks of sour grapes to me. To me, it was a tight recruiting battle won by the in-state school.

You are wrong. He absolutely intentionally deceived the IU staff, media, and fanbase. It was never close. Why did he go out of his way to point out UCLA was his second choice when it was widely believed to be down to Vandy and IU? Peegs and Rabjohns will tell you they were misled by the Garlands. If you followed the recruitment you would understand this.

This information isn’t going to be in a newspaper article.

I'm wrong, but I at least have what I think is a reasonable explanation. You have zero proof and you're right? Ok. Got it... A 17 year old kid and his family deliberately went out of their way to troll Indiana University.

I believe they definitely went out their way to lead on IU. When you have a huge fan base, sometimes it gets taken advantage of for more exposure for the recruit
