Popular Post Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 8, 2019 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2019 Corey Evans - North Carolina still has some holes to fill this winter and they would love to plug those with Keion Brooks and Cole Anthony. Anthony, the top-ranked lead guard in the 2019 class, just took his final official visit over the weekend to Wake Forest. The Deacons are joined by Georgetown, Miami, Notre Dame, Oregonand North Carolina on his final list. However, this is more of a two-horse race between the Ducks and the Tar Heels. Picking between the two remains difficult and while the Ducks have gained a lot of traction of late, I still expect Anthony to pick North Carolina at the end of the day. Brooks will be committing before Anthony as he has completed all of his visits and is down to a final group consisting of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State, Purdue, UCLA and North Carolina. The Bruins are practically out and I fail to see him in East Lansing or West Lafayette. That brings us to Indiana, Kentucky and North Carolina. Indiana seems to be the stiffest competition for Brooks and while I could definitely see him in Chapel Hill, the lure of staying home and playing alongside former travel teammate Trayce Jackson-Davis may be too much to overcome for Roy Williams and his staff. mamasa, jk34, d mess 50 and 18 others 20 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 (edited) Sometimes it's hard to get stats when a Prep Circuit team plays a local high school team which is the case tonight with La Lumiere taking on Michigan City so I'll give you what I can and hopefully there will be more I can add later. At the end of the 3rd Q LaLu leading 61-29. Brooks had 13 pts. in the quarter and 25 for the game and probably not going to see much more action tonight. Izzo in the house. UPDATE: Final score 81 - 50; Brooks was done for the night with his 25 pts. Kepner Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 Hearing that Stewart is really pushing Brooks about Michigan St. Seems to be closer to 50/50 now between IU and Michigan St RealIU 1 Quote
Uspshoosier Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 Izzo wasn’t going down with a fight. He has been recruiting him since the 8th grade. Throw in jaren Jackson dad is an assistant coach at LaLu and Sparty is still in the running for Stewart that makes Sparty a threat. We should know in a couple of weeks Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners fwgreenway and Kepner 2 Quote
indianaranger Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 Maybe why Watford is visiting later we are losing ground on Brooks. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

Not trying to question your source, but I'm skeptical. Also Washington has picked up a ton of crystal balls for Stewart lately with MSU now in third. And this article from two days ago casts a little more doubt on that statement: "While Brooks and Stewart do have a few common schools on their lists, such as Kentucky and Michigan State, they don't necessarily talk about going to the same college." https://247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Five-star-teammates-Isaiah-Stewart-and-Keion-Brooks-are-helping-each-other-as-they-come-down-the-stretch-and-make-their-college-decisions-127582681/ Class of '66 Old Fart, Alford Bailey, southsidehoosier and 2 others 5 Quote

This is more of a three-horse battle between Duke, Kentucky and Washington. No mention of MSU - I suppose things could always change tho southsidehoosier 1 Quote
HoosierDYT Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 I also find it weird that Archie hasn’t been to a game of his in awhile that I know of Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Archie then went to his tournament games. He only has a limited amount of games he can go to. He seems to go early and later. He doesn’t seem to do a ton of recruiting during the season outside of holidays.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Class of '66 Old Fart, schoosier, Stuhoo and 2 others 5 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 I remain confident here despite seeing the obvious MSU pull. I think the TJD friendship and family ties to IU staff will be enough in the end. However, Honestly if i was Brooks and knew that I had Stewart going to MSU I’d probably pick MSU too. Sucks to say that, but man, Izzo just wins. I’m at that point in the season where I’m frustrated to be a second or third tier team again despite what seems like equal rosters on paper.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Kepner 1 Quote

Rhetorical question - is it more important to Brooks to be on a winning team or be a team's featured player? Quote
