bleedhoosier Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I was going to state how the CBB landscape would flip when the headline "Stevens to IU" came out.. Our beloved neighborhood dukie took care of that one! Can you imagine... *homer Simpson drool* the fundamentals, the defense, the simple plays....THE SCREENS Quote
Old Friend Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 The money is there, the resources are there, the facilities are there, the history is there, the fans are there, Bloomington is awesome. All they need is their COACH. The million dollar question(s)? Will Stevens come? Does the administration give a damn and understand the stakes? Never Daunted, Ryno6284 and 8bucks 3 Quote

Bobman1 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 As much as I want and hope for Stevens to come to Iniana. I do think that he would like to come back to the college ranks. He seems like one of those quiet guys who would prefer to coach at a small school. I'm not sure, and I don't know who wouldn't want to come to IU. But he just seems like a small, quiet guy. Let's Hope Not! Quote

MartintheMopMan Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 The day Indiana University hires Brad Stevens will be the day the rest of the country will be put on notice. I have no doubt in my mind. Can you imagine the excitement it would bring to the program? Huge rejuvenation in my opinion. I don't think he would have to recruit that hard.. Maybe I am just living in a fantasy world. Hell I want him to be coach K's successor honestly. Indiana basketball is a dormant volcano waiting to erupt and I think more people than just IUBB people know this. I think I just erupted. HoosierTrav, Hoosiers219, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote

You don't jump to the NBA if thats what you want. Quote

8bucks Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I travelled with a friend of his (Brad Stevens) from his Depauw days (they had dinner a couple nights prior). This was a year and half ago now but the two things he was convinced would cement him in the NBA or drive him back to college were his competitive drive and family time. Boston has a ton of draft picks in the upcoming years, especially next year. He has done an incredible job coaching a average team to above average results. If he has enjoyed that and thinks the picks will translate into an even more competitive team that will be tough to overcome. His other draw is his family. While the season is long and they are away from family a lot then, NBA coaches have summers off. A few meetings here and there but otherwise they have a ton of time for family. His friend thought this would be the primary driver. Is the family time in the summer, when college coaches are recruiting, a good trade for the time away during the season. Uwe Robb 1 Quote

Walking Boot of Doom Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Brad Stevens also seems like a nice fit for university officials terrified of another godlike figure, a la Bob Knight. He seems like a guy who wouldn't be a PR headache, and would respect the limitations of his position as a basketball coach. southsidehoosier, LIHoosier, Bobman1 and 2 others 5 Quote

I want Stevens as much as anybody else but if the administration is really worried about this we are in serious trouble! If we were to pull Stevens he would come in God-Like already without ever doing anything, and if/when he is successful it will just continue to grow Quote

Oh yea definitely agree with that. I know I have heard people before say that RMK grew to be more important that the name on the front of the jerseys type stuff... BS could come in and almost instantly have that same aura... and as long as he wins it would grow. Sorry for the confusion. Walking Boot of Doom 1 Quote
barrettballer Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 If Brad Stevens came to IU, I believe it would be the the equivalent to Jim Harbaugh going to Michigan. The media would explode and start drooling at the potential. The fans would already treat him like a god type figure/savior of IU basketball. Our rivals would absolutely hate it. southsidehoosier, MikeRoberts, Bobman1 and 1 other 4 Quote

Popular Post Hovadipo Posted November 28, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 28, 2015 What sucks is...It seems like Stevens is our only Saban or Harbaugh option. There's other good hires out there, but alot of fans' eggs are in the Stevens basket and if we don't get him, the divide will still be in the fanbase unless the new guy turns it around quick. hoosierpap, ALASKA HOOSIER, Ryno6284 and 5 others 8 Quote
HoosierTrav Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 So HoosierTrav. Is your love for Brad, the reasoning behind your profile picture? That and I believe in the law of attraction. Think and act as though you already have something you want and it will manifest itself. So I keep telling myself I KNOW he's going to be our next coach and eventually this will happen.
