Walking Boot of Doom Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 we have seen the panic visit work in the case of JB2 and not work in the case of a ton of recruits. IDK but Mississippi State is making our recruiting efforts look pedestrian at a school with next to zero history, pathetic BB fanbase, and very weak facilities. MSU is making all of college basketball look pedestrian. Fulkme15, djsalway and Crimson and Cream 3 Quote

IDK but Mississippi State is making our recruiting efforts look pedestrian at a school with next to zero history, pathetic BB fanbase, and very weak facilities. Some kids may like the idea of writing the history book at Miss St while playing for a player's coach in Howland and getting NBA ready. Fan support and facilities may be low priorities for them. The recruiting failure isn't IMO that we are losing recruits to Miss St. The whole college admissions process is very subjective. The failure is that we don't really have a next move if we lose kids like Davis or Brown.* *I have no idea what our plan B may be. I have no idea how this will shake out. I'm not going to lose sleep over being made to look pedestrian by a non bball school. What concerns me is the lack of prospects on the horizon Crimson and Cream, yogisballin, IUsafety and 1 other 4 Quote
mdn82 Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Look at what LSU did for 2015. Every year there is a Miss St. Class of '66 Old Fart, WayneFleekHoosier, IUsafety and 1 other 4 Quote
Walking Boot of Doom Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 um, Michgan State, Duke, Kentucky, and eventually Kansas? That's four programs. Of 351. Mississippi State is benefitting from the hype of Howland and a strong in-state class. Like md mentioned, happens every year. Quote
HoosierTrav Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Indiana and Kansas should never be losing recruits to Miss State but this happens all the time. Howland, Pearl, and Johnson are selling a vision at this point. These are football schools and will always be football schools. Eventually it will be hard for these guys to sustain a pattern of this type of recruiting. Elite players want to be treated like royalty and have as much exposure as possible. Sadly, places like MSU, Bama, and Auburn will never command a ton of media exposure. The market will never be there for ESPN to slot them in multiple primetime spots over the likes of Kansas, Indiana, and the other traditional BB's who have massive and loyal fanbases. I'd bet money that 2/3 of these coaches will move on to take a bigger job once they've squeezed every bit of success out of their current jobs. Pearl is definitely a guy who would take a job like IU in a heartbeat. Not tht we'd want him, given his history. I'm just saying he'd bail for a better job. Bobman1 1 Quote

AKHoosier Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Mississippi State took 2 PFs last year, a 4* and a 3*. They've got Herard locked up now and are still going after Abdul Ado, a 6'10" top 100 ranked player from TN. Competition for playing time in the front court may actually be higher at MSU than here, which is crazy. Man, we have to lock him up. Losing him to MSU would be so deflating. Hoosiers219 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 One of Crean's in-homes has to go good right? Lol. Just kidding. Hopefully this is a very good sign and we can get him to commit soon! Hopefully Davis doesn't emerge from this one with a brand new list of schools like last time. Quote
Walking Boot of Doom Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Apparently Crean visited last Thursday, according to Bozich. Quote

Crean's track record with marathon recruitments is really bad. We likely have 3 Starting Lineup spots to offer and are having difficulty recruiting. Maybe we already have Thon and Rawle locked up.
