IU Hoosier41

2015 #IUBB Offseason Thread

The fact that Davis has been in non-contact practice for the past few weeks is a good sign. Best case scenario, he'll have the same concerns that athletes with prior concussions have where contact to the head will increase the likelihood of having another concussion or head issue.

Great quote after the ND game:  "During that timeout, it wasn't about strategy – it was about defense and getting stops," Connaughton said. "It's something you feed off of. It's blood in the water. It's something you can't get enough of."

How refreshing that would be to hear that same quote next year from an IU player.  And at least for the weekend, I shall henceforth be known as O'Class of '66 Old Fart  --  GO IRISH

It would be great, however; I am not sure if IU football and basketball players are allowed to mention the word defense.

Maybe Crean should steal a page from the first Rocky movie where Burgess Meredith makes Rocky try to catch live chickens to improve his foot speed and reaction time.  But with our lack of defense this season, we'll have to start out trying to catch turtles and slowly work our way up to chickens.

I was looking at the scholarship numbers page at ITH. Zeisloft is listed as a scholarship athlete for next season. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I don't think that means anything, I think they just list players by eligibility years; i.e. Zeisloft had two years of eligibility so he's listed for this season and next.

Hoetzel was probably listed for the next 3 years.

It has been updated, removing Mac and Stan.

Then probably because those are the only confirmed departures so far.

April and Priller are probably listed out another 3 years. Most scholarship grids I've seen list true freshman out 4 years even though the scholly is just one year renewable.

Training room hero. My gosh.

@MisterRoberts: What a inch vertical looks like, I'd imagine. #iubb RT @_TyRogers_: @hannerperea http://t.co/fT8od2z0S8

That's ridiculous, now bring in a coach who can teach him defensive and rebounding fundamentals and he is a pro.

Lol. Such a Crean move. Learn some basketball bud!

@JeffRabjohns: Indiana basketball coach Tom Crean attends Notre Dame football coaches clinic. http://t.co/C4ZZbIsHCC. #iubb

I'm sure Crean knows and understands the X's and O's of basketball. I think he just can't coach them properly. He's a smart, studious guy with talented and intelligent players. There's some disconnect between them, and I think it could be his coaching (teaching) abilities. Just my opinion.

That being said, you can learn how to be a better communicator and teacher as a coach from a coach of any sport. He better be at every single damn conference and learning opportunity he has.
