BasketballRecruiting Forum I had somebody at work the other day wonder if Purdue fans would go back and lose the bucket game in 2023 in the hopes we would stick with TA. I think after that press conference they 100% would pumpfake 1 Quote

They're a bunch of mouth-breathing idiots, and they hire mouth-breathing idiots like Tommy McClelland who say stupid crap before they engage their feeble little brains. wirenuts, ronzo4IU, Napleshoosier and 1 other 1 3 Quote

Pagoda Posted Friday at 09:07 PM Author Posted Friday at 09:07 PM It I were a PU fan (shudder) I’d rather have 10 straight bucket losses than my rival hiring Cig and somehow winning the CFB Natty in dominant fashion and garnering massive national attention. cthomas, Jeff Flabjohns, 8bucks and 1 other 4 Quote

Old Friend Posted Saturday at 03:14 AM Posted Saturday at 03:14 AM 2 things are true. 1) That quote was on Cignetti's wall less than 10 minutes after it was said and will be there until November 28...likely referenced many times. 2) I don't think the line for the Bucket game this year can be put high enough. If it were IU - 77.5 I think I'd take it; and anything less than Indiana -50 is stealing. Those kids up there are going to pay for his idiocy and I almost feel sorry for them. Almost. cthomas and AZ Hoosier 2 Quote
Pagoda Posted Saturday at 11:33 AM Author Posted Saturday at 11:33 AM This story really went mainstream on Friday. What a nightmare for Purdue. - Dan Patrick picked this story up and did a segment laughing at Purdue - Stephen A picked this up and did a rant. lol https://youtu.be/4djNzUG6Wik?si=qgrjOI30-eXkazOw - ESPN's morning shows did a segment - Rich Eisen did a segment - And all sorts of smaller media outlets talked about it - As noted above by AZ, their AD had to go on McAfee to do damage control. Think about that -- damage control for an AD's intro press conference. Haha. Just a chef's kiss from Purdue -- they can't help but try to puff their chests out when they should be focused on themselves and improving. It's pretty cool IU fans didn't even have to respond -- everyone else did it for us. LIHoosier, Jeff Flabjohns, AZ Hoosier and 1 other 3 1 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted Saturday at 12:19 PM Posted Saturday at 12:19 PM While trying to walk his comment back, McClellan essentially said it was a joke gone bad. But it clearly wasn't. He was trying to rally the Toiletmaker troops -- and failed miserably. It just makes him look like has no idea about the job he took. Don't mistake this for political banter, but it's like the day John Kerry spoke in Ohio and Michigan on the same day and lost track of where he was. While in Michigan, he said how much appreciation he had for Buckeye football. Yikes. Honestly, all McClellan had to do was disparage our basketball program -- and we'd have had to suck it up and take it. PU's last three NCAA appearances: national runner-up, Sweet 16, Elite Eight. We haven't sniffed anything like that in years. But to say IU doesn't win championships: Very cringe-worthy. Quote

pumpfake Posted Saturday at 02:05 PM Posted Saturday at 02:05 PM The comment would have held some water if either PU had actually ever won a meaningful title, OR the dufus had a history of fielding championship teams. But golf? Rice? LMAO. Hoosierfan2017 and Pagoda 2 Quote

After we beat them by 70+ points I bet Cig will have a zinger about our focus being championships and not Old Oaken Buckets. I'm ready to graduate to OSU and UM becoming our primary football rivalries. Pagoda 1 Quote

I got so sick of Purdue calling themselves the "cradle of quarterbacks ". Then the Tiller years when they called it "basketball on grass". I'll always circle the Purdue game. Last year I was disappointed that we let them score and we didn't beat them worse. I want a historic beat down in Bloomington this year. Home Jersey and 68Hoosier 2 Quote
