I had somebody at work the other day wonder if Purdue fans would go back and lose the bucket game in 2023 in the hopes we would stick with TA. I think after that press conference they 100% would

Take out the football championship and the comment is still a very stupid one. That just takes the championship count down to 24-3 instead of 25-3.

If I remember right, we actually controlled the first 3 quarters of that game and then the predictable Tom Allen crash-out happened in the fourth.

2 things are true.

1) That quote was on Cignetti's wall less than 10 minutes after it was said and will be there until November 28...likely referenced many times.

2) I don't think the line for the Bucket game this year can be put high enough.    If it were IU - 77.5 I think I'd take it; and anything less than Indiana -50 is stealing.   Those kids up there are going to pay for his idiocy and I almost feel sorry for them.  Almost.

This story really went mainstream on Friday.  What a nightmare for Purdue.

Just a chef's kiss from Purdue -- they can't help but try to puff their chests out when they should be focused on themselves and improving.

It's pretty cool IU fans didn't even have to respond -- everyone else did it for us.

While trying to walk his comment back, McClellan essentially said it was a joke gone bad. But it clearly wasn't. He was trying to rally the Toiletmaker troops -- and failed miserably. 

It just makes him look like has no idea about the job he took. Don't mistake this for political banter, but it's like the day John Kerry spoke in Ohio and Michigan on the same day and lost track of where he was. While in Michigan, he said how much appreciation he had for Buckeye football. Yikes. 

Honestly, all McClellan had to do was disparage our basketball program -- and we'd have had to suck it up and take it. PU's last three NCAA appearances: national runner-up, Sweet 16, Elite Eight. We haven't sniffed anything like that in years. 

But to say IU doesn't win championships: Very cringe-worthy.

After we beat them by 70+ points I bet Cig will have a zinger about our focus being championships and not Old Oaken Buckets.

I'm ready to graduate to OSU and UM becoming our primary football rivalries.

Too much history, ancient history at that, for me with Purdue for me to ever let them off the hook. I got so sick of Purdue calling themselves the  "cradle of quarterbacks ". Then the Tiller years when they called it "basketball on grass". I'll always circle the Purdue game. Last year I was disappointed that we let them score and we didn't beat them worse. I want a historic beat down in Bloomington this year.
