Didn’t expect that level of collapse but thank goodness it happened.  Michigan and Arizona are so freaking good.  Arizona doing it with a lot of youth. Impressive stuff.  Lloyd having this run, then leaving for UNC isn’t realistic is it?

Sucks that potential Michigan - Arizona matchup has to happen before the title as they are truly the 2 best teams this year.  Duke is fine but a step below IMO.

Matt Painter = just a pretty good coach. Not very good. Definitely not great. He's OK. Pork chop is alright if you ask me.

I think he’s better than you do, but tonight ended an era in which he found some absolute recruiting steals over 3 or 4 years and couldn’t get over the hump with them. I’m confident we’ve seen the absolute peak of Purdue basketball. If I were him I’d be looking for a situation with better resources.

I think it's getting overblown. He's been a west coast guy his whole career and turned down a lot of requests for interviews when he was an assistant at Gonzaga.

I'll take it a step further and say he already has the better job.  Has plenty of resources and lot less BS than he would at NC.

I had a thought earlier this week that UNC is probably one of a very short list of programs he'd ever consider leaving Purdue for. I don't think it will happen, but UNC would give him absolutely everything he needed and he wouldn't have to rely on diamonds in the rough turning into Wooden Award winners.

Yep.  Who knows though.  UK might need a new coach after next year.

Yea, I think Purdue's title window ended the day Zach Edey graduated. They are still going to be consistently good though as long as Painter is there.

Off to Kansas with you, Matty boy. ;)

UNC could do worse...

Back in the day, he and his agent used Missouri for a pay raise and job security. So it would be only fitting if he left for KU.

I just don’t know if Painter could handle a fish bowl job like UNC or Kansas. He’s absolutely one of the best in the country at getting the most out of his players, but could seriously see him struggling getting high end talent to not only gel but playing his system.

Think of how much he could lecture everyone though.

I think he tried the high-end-talent route in the early-2010s and it didn’t work out very well.

Totally have had this thought too. I would not be surprised to see Painter bolt for a school with better resources.

He's done all he can at Purdue. His window is all but closing, and no one realizes that more than him.

At 55 years old, he's young enough to the point age isn't considered a negative in hiring since he'd have 10-12 good years left. Old enough for some serious self reflection, "is Purdue basketball the pinnacle of my career? That kind of thing.
