iubb Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Also. I would be shocked if this was not agreed to weeks ago and they just held off on announcing it until after the game. No chance in hell this all came together in less than 6 hours go iu bb, WayneFleekHoosier, 8bucks and 3 others 6 Quote

Hoosierfan2017 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I don’t know how much he made at IU, but I saw on Twitter that Tennessee is paying him $1.2 million. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Several sad news bits today after the highest of highs. Part of doing business I guess. Wonder what the raise was to encourage this move. Quote

He was on $425K in season one (19th nationally), then he got a raise in December '24 to $635K and another raise in May '25 (when USC came calling) that got him to $925K (3rd nationally) plus performance incentives. It's not like we weren't competitive on comp. UT just made him the highest paid S&C coach. I bet he would have got another raise here, but at some point you've got to want to be at IU... skhoosier2, str8baller, Crimson and Cream and 3 others 6 Quote
BBTB Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I just saw that and I hope they can get some one very very good and yuck who goes to a SEC school ? Quote

Unlike position guys, strength coaches are basically just career strength coaches, right? If that’s the case I can totally see the move for that role pretty much always being whatever the best money is. If UT wants to reset the market with Owings, good for him. Quote
8bucks Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Cig made several comments in the post game crediting the strength coach which is interesting given he is leaving. No doubt he knew about it and it seemed we could bump up to keep him but he may have just wanted to be in TN. Quote
Lebowski Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Best of luck to Coach D.O.! He's a National Champion that went 16-0. Accomplished in the 812. Bring the Doc and Ballou back baby! 8bucks and southsidehoosier 2 Quote

I wonder why $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ he would leave. It’s kind of a $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ mystery. Hate to see him go but I would much rather replace the s&c guy than having to replace both the DC and OC like Oregon. The percentage of assistants we have retained (knock on wood we keep the rest) is amazing/impressive. go iu bb and BannerVille 2 Quote

Perfect answer. I’m sure we will find a good fit. Quote
