But those felt natural the result of steady play that eventually the law of averages panned out and the won. Same would have ever true if Myles Turner had bothered to show up in the finals. But this is still surreal even after watching the team for month push past any obstacle. Just unbelievable I still wake up in the morning and check online to confirm they really did win a natty! I obviously didn’t know the season would play out like it did, but when we beat #9 Illinois 63-10 while pulling our starters in the 3rd quarter, I kept wondering what the reaction would be if a big name program did that. And if everyone was selling IU short. Turns out they were (me included). ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Pagoda Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I hate to belly-ache, but IU needs to get off their @$$ and move this Saturday championship celebration into Assembly Hall. It's going to be 10* with a -5* windchill. Doing this outdoors is ridiculous. We need to assemble a lot of people to celebrate. We have a great big hall for that. Use it. southsidehoosier, Home Jersey, mamasa and 1 other 4 Quote

This was always going to happen in the last week of January. A little foresight (which is asking a LOT out of this crew, I know) and this could've been booked in Lucas Oil for a month now. I'm sure that won't be popular though. Doing it outside of Bloomington isn't the most ideal, but if this is planned for the stadium they're expecting more than 17,000 people. Quote

When the Cubs won, I was relieved- FINALLY. But this is so unexpected. IU football has been long-suffering, but not with close calls and 'shouldas' but with complete irrelevance and incompetence. I think this NC is like winning the lottery with a ticket you found on the street. Pure serendipity. HinnyHoosier 1 Quote

If this was in warm and comfy AH they may have to turn some people away, but I think that's preferable what they're going to attempt. Our players will be so bundled up they won't have much fun and it'll be hard to talk on the mic. Maybe I'm wrong. Whatever, good luck IU athletic dept. Quote

They're going to luck out with snow, but the temperatures make the whole thing ignorant for sure. More than happy to catch whatever it ends up being on BTN in front of my fireplace. Pagoda 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 23 Posted January 23 An abbreviated statement from IU on tomorrow's celebration. "By keeping the celebration at the stadium rather than moving it indoors, we aim to minimize the total time attendees are exposed to the elements. If the event was moved to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, we anticipate fans would spend multiple hours standing in lines to secure entry. In light of the cold temperatures, fans are encouraged to dress warmly and remain in their vehicles until close to the 1 p.m. start time. Should the weather forecast dramatically worsen, we will provide further updates as necessary." Rightly or wrongly, it is a valid point about people standing in line outside for access to SSAH.
