I'm happy it happened. A classic moment that shows the character / bond of our team. That said, Fernando had a masterful game and was also a very worthy choice for MVP. Especially after winning the Heisman, you'd expect him to win the MVP (obviously the players and camera crew did). Herbstreit and Fowler called the game so got to pick the MVP apparently per tradition. Not to sound like a tinfoil hat wearing loon (okay maybe I am one...) a big part of me wonders if their ESPN bias did not want Fernando getting more of the limelight. Probably not - and ultimately doesn't matter - but the SEC / ESPN propaganda machine is a real thing that harms the sport IMO, so I will choose to quietly believe it and let the resentment stew within me until we do this again next season and the rest of the CFB world has to accept our sheer dominance. Herbstreit said that he wanted to award it to the offensive line as a unit, but the producers/Rose Bowl committee wouldn't allow that. The SEC propoganda machine bad for the sport? Lol... that kind of troll clicking gets people fired up, creates dramatic storylines, and generally is a big win for ESPN. BaldTrollDumb@$$ leads that parade; he's been identified as the perfect lead actor (he is and then some), and to his real credit he does a masterful job. I try to pride myself on rarely being naive, but I feel a bit naive for thinking that BaldTrollDumb@$$ was a biased idiot. I now appreciate him as a comedic and interest-inducing semi-genius; especially after seeing some of those staged "angry Bama fans" that were featured on his web show after the IU/Bama game. I’m no Herbstreit fan and thought it was a good pick. They were dominant and maybe played their best game of the year. With that said, you’re right that a QB in Mendozas position wins the MVP 99% of the time normally. Home Jersey and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Pagoda Posted January 6 Posted January 6 ESPN reports even higher viewership numbers than Yahoo did (22.5M). Maybe they include McAfee simulcast or something.
