Trying to draw lines between Clemson, WVU, and TT with regards to IU pulling coaches, assistants at that, is just self loathing.

Anyone that can be pulled out of WVU or Clemson can be pulled out of TT. If it doesn’t happen it isn’t on IU, the AD or for fans.

Just a question why would the TT assistant leave right now. They just made the EE and should have been the final four.

Good point Scotty.  If he just made the ER we may not want him.  Health issues can really cause havoc on a coaching staff.

From a lower power conference team and it wasn't a lateral move. I thought the only power conference coaches we could get was someone like Brownell who is at a lower power conference program. I think you can put Devries in that same category because WVU is not a top job. Also Devries has only been there 1 year donut made it easier to move on.

I just think these assistant coaches have to move around a lot already so why move when you don't need to.

Guys, some have just to face it.  The IU Basketball brand in damaged.  And I said damaged, not dead.  It's not what it used to be -- so getting players, coaches, etc. isn't automatic.

But it is RECOVERABLE.  It will take some time to rebuild the brand.  It starts with winning.  No major controversies.  A supportive fan base.  Etc.  Time will tell is CDD is the man for the job.  I think we'll know by Jan, 2026.

Unless things go REALLY bad, I don't think you can really judge the coach after a year. 2-3 years is more likely. I wonder what Florida fans thought of Todd Golden in January of his first season.

You think all that is needed to tell if he's going to be successful or not is the first 1/3 of his first season? lmao

I think we should know relatively early if he can make adjustments, have his team prepared, and have a team that will scrap. All needed to be successful.

So, @Scotty R, if coaches don't want to leave P5 schools for other P5 schools, please explain these moves so far just this year:

Darian DeVries: West Virginia (B12) -> Indiana (B1G)

Drew Adams: Cincinnati (B12) -> Indiana (B1G)

Buzz Williams: Texas A&M (SEC) -> Maryland (B1G)

Sean Miller: Xavier (Big East) -> Texas (SEC)

All four of those are, to varying degrees, promotions. Of conference, of resources, and/or of the basketball focus of the schools..

We didn’t even know these guys names two weeks ago lol it’s not the end of the world

If we don’t get that guy from Texas Tech whose last name I don’t even actually know, but I’ve seen before and seems hard to pronounce, I don’t know what I will do to myself or the people around me.

Winning the offseason is serious business. Life and death consequences.

Who leaves for a demotion? Lol, every coach that voluntarily leaves, does so for a better opportunity
