So, total disregard for the rules is the way to go? No rules = anarchy. The point of rules, "right" or not, is to define the parameters of competition and fairness. A rule, good or bad, should apply to ALL participants... there is no "jury nullification"... defying the rules because you don't like them demonstrates bad character... either you're a moral, stand-up guy, or you think that the rules don't apply to you.

Clearly, morality and high character is passé around these parts.

Rules do not equal morality. It used to be a rule that women couldn't run the Boston Marathon. Kathrine Switzer is a hero.

Laws/Rules keep things in check. That said though, some laws/rules are so stupid and devoid of reason. I jaywalk daily without a second thought

Haven’t been closely following the staff additions.

Do the recent staff announcements mean there is no role for Jordy or CC?  I’m not one that thinks we need ex-IU guys, just curious if they both are definitely out.

I think with Kory departing to Oral Roberts, that eliminated the possibility. It's been expressed that Dolson wants a clean slate too from the old staff.

Kenny Johnson seems like a pretty mediocre hire from the outside. It doesn’t seem that large staff payroll really got us too far.

On the surface, seems a bit desperate. If we’re dipping toes in the mud, why not just go Will Wade - arguably top 20 X’s and O’s coaching,  undisputedly top 5 for rolling in the dirt! Less risk on both counts.

We suffer severely from day late, dollar short syndrome. Here’s to hoping Kenny immediately comes with some dudes who can play team ball and have character - and keep th pipelines open. Don’t know for certain, but my sense is that Kenny is commonly hired due to potential recruiting prowess rather than coaching acumen.

Brother, it’s hardly isolated to these parts. The social contract is different today and way less people have patience for rules / policies they deem dumb enough to ignore, lol. We live in wild times.

There are laws everywhere in this country that aren't followed because they are old, stupid, and would cost more to remove than just keep ignoring. Dancing is banned in some counties in this country.

What about when the rule is deemed to actually be in violation with the actual law? That’s not a rule to follow. And that’s what the “cheating” coaches were doing. They were following actual law and not some bs rule by the NCAA.

Do we want to win basketball games or not? I swear everyone thinks that college basketball is still an amateur sport and huge dollars aren't involved in bringing talent to your program.
This hire signals to me that IU is serious about winning and serious about acquiring talent. I do not care that this dude got caught breaking some recruiting rules 8 or 9 years ago. Every big time assistant has broken some recruiting rules.
We seriously gotta stop acting like we're somehow above this stuff. College basketball has changed. Stop stressing about recruiting violations, I beg of you.
I agree with you, and it's awesome that your message here matches your username...definition of consistency.

Just because it's a rule doesn't make it right.

Of course not. But cheating is stealing from others that aren't cheating. It's not a indication of "wanting it more" it's the opposite. It means you are too lazy to work hard enough to win by the rules, so you break them to gain advantage. Cheating at a board game, on a test at school, in your marriage, on your taxes, whatever the situation, is dishonorable. The consquences may not be equal, but the fact remains, it's dishonest.

If you are ok with that, then I'm not gonna argue about it, but pretending "it was a stupid rule" justifies it, misses the point.

I love Kenny Johnson hire. He has a lot of contacts, has a lot of good relationships with AAU and high school coaches. He was also a friend last time he was here. Our kids were friends and played sports together.

Seems like Pitino is not a big fan these days based on a few articles I read from a couple of years ago. Aren't we rumored to be playing St. John's next year?

Pitino isnt a fan because of everything blowing up at louisville. Who knows who is in the right but I have doubts pitino was squeaky clean and kenny did everything without his knowledge as claimed lol

"Ruined his life"

Don't get me wrong, Pitino doesn't have some sort of track record of accountability, truth telling or moral high ground. I just find all of this stuff interesting. And then Johnson ended up with Archie. It's like a soap opera.
