Most obvious answer is that he doesn’t have them yet. They could be on a team still playing, for instance.

Or they just got done and need to move.  Some of it is easy and some of it isn’t. Moving from say Texas and/or Alabama is a helluva lot different then being at Cincy for one year with family who live in Bloomington.

When the dead period starts in a few days can unnamed assistant coaches contact players?  I know under prior rules it was sometimes an advantage to not naming new assistants because they could still contact players.  Not sure this is the strategy here but just wondered.

It's the in-person on and off-campus contacts that are prohibited.  Telephone, email, text, are still OK.  Also, in most cases with portal players initial contacts are likely with agents and not directly with the player.

I know it’s not important for us to know what’s going on behind the scenes, and apparently Adams is already working in official capacity more or less, but I totally agree. Seeing plenty of other schools immediately announce even just one or two staff is frustrating.

I don’t get the benefit of announcing them all at once, and to me it seems more like we are waiting out some precious portal time trying to get our one or two specific coaches on board. Feels like we are running behind on all aspects right now from our outside perspective.

Nick Norton and Drew Adams have been confirmed already and are currently working and recruiting for IU. They will be officially announced by the university along with the rest of the coaching and support staff at a later date.

I made my comment because while I’m sure Norton and Adams are doing great work, the more assistants working the greater chance of connections leading to players visiting

There is no I in team, I kind of like that DDV is doing this as a “we” not a “me” approach! Team building is desperately needed here! Baby steps!

Could be that they are still working to land one guy (Murphy?), and that will determine someone else's title.

I think it is. Just finalizing contracts and expect everything to be done by the end of the week. I think we got Murphy but have never heard that for sure.

Is it your belief (no one will know for sure until it's public, we get that) that the three recruiting assistants will be: Drew Adams, Achoki Moikobu and Preston Murphy then Nick Norton will be a player development/non-recruiting assistant and then one additional name would be listed similarly (assistant but not one of the three recruiters)?

Yes, that is my belief. Also, couldn't the other assistant non recruiting by Garrett Sturtz

This may be a coincidence and may have nothing to do with IU but Preston Murphy's page on the Alabama site gets a 404 error. The pages for the other coaches load just fine.
