I think it’s fair to say the SEC was over valued.

I'm in a holding pattern. Arkansas just beat the Big East Champs.  We might end up seeing a big SEC representation in the later rounds.

We fired Crean for sweet 16’s. So that can’t be the bar. Let’s also see how Dusty does once he doesn’t have Goldin anymore.

I don't think that's the main reason Crean was fired. I think he was fired because of his inconsistency and his recruiting was going in a negative direction. So were his B1G finishes.

A lot of fans wanted him fired after losing to Syracuse. He never recovered after that with the fanbase. He even won a Big Ten title after that. But to your point his lows were to low imo.

Yeah, but his last 4 years in the B1G he finished like 7, 8, 1, and 10. And the year he won it was a bad year for the conference. He wasn't trending in a good way no matter how you slice it.

I was at that game in DC…and I agree to a certain extent. That was the beginning of the end. We had zero clue against the zone. It’s was breathtakingly bad. I still have nightmares of how ill prepared we were

I think you're both right. The SEC depth was over valued. They didn't deserve getting 14 teams in. The top of the conference, however, is very strong and will do well in the tournament.

BYU is a fun team to watch.  I did not expect that to be my response coming into this tournament.

Have them going to the Elite 8.  Young is a good coach and he has some nice talent there.  Think the Big 10 should try to figure out a way to add them with the Mormon contingency.

I think the B1G might be the strongest conference in the middle.

I think the next round of the tourney is going to show that the top of the B1G is not so strong and that the SEC top is really strong.

I agree. The middle and bottom of the SEC was massively over-valued.

Yep, the middle of the B1G was pretty close to the top. Unfortunately, the top isn't very good so it'll be a B1G bloodbath this weekend and next Thursday/Friday after the great start.

The announcers just called Chad Baker-Mazara “a passionate kid.”

He’s 25.

He’s got one more year of eligibility if you want a Jamarcus Ellis type of personality and player.

We were dead meat against Temple, but a Wat block and Dipo 3 saved our ***** That season was going backwards real fast, especially after people were predicting a perfect season that off-season! That was the most outlandish thing I have ever seen!

Actually, the exact opposite. Baker-Mazara is my go-to example of the 1 change I’d make if I was NCAA President for a day. That guy’s gonna play the entire SEC conference season next year at 26. That’s insane.  I’d do away with medical redshirts, hardship waivers, the whole thing, and give every athlete in every sport unlimited years, no questions asked, until their 25th birthday. On that day as they’re blowing out the candles on their cake their eligibility is up, no appeals or exceptions. If some kid reclasses up and starts school his 17-18 yo year, fine he’s got 7 years. Normal kids would have 6. And, hey, if some coach wants to use a guy 2/3 of a season because he turns 25 in February, I’’m down with that, too. His Senior night can be game 20, then he’s done. I can swallow a 24yo playing against a freshman, but that’s where I vociferously draw the line.
