Darian DeVries - New IUBB Head Coach

Recommended Posts

Here’s a dumb question that one of you dummies, being far less dumb than I, can probably answer.

How much influence do coaches have on uniforms? Obviously the cream and crimson will remain unchanged, but will determine the alternates? Or is that an adidas thing? I’d love to see the black unis again next year

I think the more we see devries the happier we are going to be with how he shapes the team, and i dont think we will ever have to worry about seeing a team not playing hard enough. If the coach is relentless, then the team will probably be relentless. If the players dont buy in, they wont be there. I definitely like what I heard.

With that said, even if it was low percentage, a person that wants to coach again will take a call to maybe coach the team he rooted for when he was a kid. Throughout I really had doubts because being a president of one the best nba teams would be a tough job to leave, no matter where he would be going to. But that doesn't mean he didn't have interest.

Dolson had to try. And I'm betting he kept trying even after hearing things he may not have wanted to hear. Anyways, I'm always appreciative of posters who share what they hear, whether it ends up being right or wrong, because they really dont have to share anything if they dont want to.

Also, it made the search thread so much fun this go around, hell I miss it already.

I'm excited about this hire, and I havent been since crean. Let's go

I crashed out yesterday but I try to be an optimistic person when there is reason.  I think we have some reason for it.  Gonna have to start delivering on it this year though.  Huge year ahead.

Very happy to see my posting friend @WayneFleekHoosier open-minded and ready to roll.

Let's hope your Wednesday vibes are correct and your Tuesday vibes can be erased for good.

Goode back? I haven't found a single person who thought he would win his appeal. I hope your right but since he finished the season that year they usually don't approve those

Ahh then maybe not. Thought one of the Assembly Call guys felt confident. We will see. Never know with the NCAA! I see both sides. One of my co-workers son is being recruited by some D1 schools for baseball. I know she is ready for all of this to end. Guys getting 6 years and beyond is crazy! I am a fan of you get one redshirt year and that's it.

Do you think he said that intentionally?   I am not really sure, but I like it.

I am sure that he believes that (team vs collection)... and if he has seen any of Indiana basketball in the past 3-4 years, he has to know that was what Woodson did... so can't say it was actually a shot at Woodson, but it was truth...

That is what I didn't understand the last 8 years.  I can throw a d@mn rock outside here in Evansville, and probably hit a kid who could shoot better than the teams put on the floor the last 8 years.  (Sarcastically of course, I think I did shoot better at a small Christian high school I played at 36 years ago.)  This state is loaded with guys who can do that. It just blows my mind sometimes.

This is maybe the most painful part of the last 8 years of IU basketball (well, that and the losing).

How is it possible that IU has had so many bad shooters? It seems impossible.

He’s gonna feast with our NIL this cycle IMO

That’s the job description. Top 5 NIL should get you a top 10 roster.

If he can’t do that, they need to get him a GM who can or it will be a long 6 years. There really shouldn’t be any barriers to success.

While we were getting our doors blown off in Atlantis, Dolson was talking with the coach who was stacking impressive wins there

I missed the presser, is this where that came from?

It sounds like it's likely he gets the waiver and is back next year. Might be a fight.

most people think he will lose but at the end of the day its all about what the ncaa thinks so in the meantime i hope you are right

I don’t know what it is, but this time feels different guys. I feel like we’ve been on the NCAA bubble the last four years with a coach that hardly put in any type of effort. Imagine what DD can accomplish With his hunger in his work ethic

Yep I the supposedly eternally negative poster feel good.  This was a serious hire our first since I was a student.
