....I think the last coach thought this! Look what 5 mil did for him.

I have a feeling Dolson threw out a hypothetical if Woodson is fired, would you be interested?  DDV probably told him to talk to me when the season is over.

No Dolson just mentioned that him and Harper watched DeVries twice the last 3 years once in the 2nd half vs Miami on the tourney before IU played Kent State and once in the Bahamas before IU Played.

There is wild WVU fan conspiracy's that IUs wanted him since Atlantis and shortly after This son shut it down for the year and it was like 2 days later Woodson news broke. Son and Dad both knew they would get better pay days at IU

Back channel flirting for over a month.  The relationship started to bloom early February.  BUT I believe DeVries had intentions of leaving for Iowa at that time.  Don't think Iowa was not aware of Indiana's interest.  He was on the way out regardless.  Baker at WVU was either completely oblivious or in denial.

What I will find intriguing is if NCAA changes eligibility to 5 years instead of 4 then maybe IU gets 2 years of Tucker

Isn’t that vote this summer after the conclusion of the Spring sports?

West Virginia fans are salty because tucker did actually get 1 million in NIL from them. I assume we’ll pay him similar since he’s not an NBA player most likely and it may be his last payday

My guess is Tucker's NIL compensation is already worked into the deal. NIL was a huge point of emphasis for DeVries and the reason he was never willing to even consider the Iowa job.

Rice doesn't have a B1G PG body, doesn't have a tight handle for a PG or good court vision. He could occasionally freelance and get a basket. Never seemed to know what the offense was, although he wasn't alone.

My take. Rice is a really good player. He showed that coming into IU, can’t just disregard that.
But coaching - including the plays, actions and schemes, matters, and he had basically none under Woodson, the worst coach to ever “coach” IU. Put Rice under a good coach with an actual system for guards and he will excel, as he already has

For real man - give it up and stop digging regarding Brad. That’s all anyone wants. As I said from the beginning, I know unequivocally that Brad was not interested in the job. But even for those who never believed me, it should be very obvious in light of the totality of what is out here and the way the story has changed that you were either lying or being lied to and believing the wrong people.  I believe it’s the latter because I choose to assume good faith. But it’s one or the other, without question.

to be fair, he probably wont keep talking if others drop it too.  How about some thoughts on DD?

This guy can flat out coach. Modern basketball too. He will be easy to root for and someone our fanbase should get behind.

Most of us have wanted a complete staff change for the better part of 2+ years and that day has arrived. I can’t wait to see what the remainder of the staff and new roster is going to look like!

Let’s Go Hoosiers!

Possibly, but the old Pac12 was so different than the B1G. Look at all the awards that Rice, Ballo and Carlyle won last year and didn't sniff a B1G award. Pac12 wasn't nearly as physical. Not much emphasis on defense. I was just really disappointed in Rice's ball handling and decision making. Couldn't believe how often he played in the half court with his back to a defender so he wouldn't get the ball stolen. You just can't play PG that way.

Loved the shot at Woodson about trying to be successful bringing in 10-11 players every season... Woodson had exactly what DeVries said - a collection of players, and not a team.

So pumped... let's go!!!

Yep, a collection of players is what we saw with Woodson. Same with Davis. Crean had several years like that. Miller was just so bad in so many ways that it was hard to tell but his teams never seemed to play as a team, either.

Sampson's teams were cohesive units that played well as teams on the court. Off the court they were a disaster.

Basically, it's what IU has been missing since the mid-90s other than a few years here and there. It'll be nice to have a coach which tries to gauge that as part of the recruiting evaluation process.
