Good press conference.  Things that stuck out to me:

Building a team not just bringing a roster of players.

Process oriented...Cig all the way

Confident, happy to be here, and really relaxed better when he started talking about ball.  

I was happy with him as the hire but he won me over even more after listening to him talk.

He might actually be someone to bring the fan base and even former players together. There was always those fans and former player that wanted an IU guy. IU tried it with Woody, yet fans and former players were still divided. Now we have a guy that comes from the outside of the IU history, doesn't have favoritism bias toward this former championship team, or that era of players. No, we have just a dude coaching basketball and embracing anyone that want to come along for the ride....

I could do without the summer social media videos of double battle ropes, sandpit exercises, weight lifting, and team putt-putt.  I'm sort of kidding.

Just my opinion but I'd be surprised if there are any holdovers from the prior Staff.

I recall having genuine concerns from Woodson's introductory press conference (calling TJD "Tracy Davis" and speaking in the third person, for instance). Dude just seemed out of touch.

DeVries is the polar opposite. He understands this fanbase and this program. Clearly the expectations have been properly laid out for him by Dolson & Co, and he WANTS to be here. He WANTS to meet/exceed those expectations. I know Woodson "wanted" to be here but really he wanted the title, he wanted the prestige. He didn't want to do the work. But Devries seems to truly embrace the job in every way and is excited to get to work immediately.

There's going to be hiccups. Things aren't going to be perfect. We'll lose some recruiting battles and some tough games. I believe he'll be able to handle the questions and criticism when that happens. He fielded the media's questions expertly. He knows what he's here to do, and he knows how he's going to do it. I think he'll have no problem getting Hoosier Nation rallied around this program again.

From many accounts Chester Frazier (Devries' associate HC at WVU) is a good coach and hear he's a candidate for WVU...Would be ironic to see him on the IU sideline given the history if he joined the new Staff. Ha!

Everyone else?  If coach wants them and they have an epiphany they need to change, fine, but anyone else who goes I won't miss.

I actually think Rice would work well because I believe he had freedom at Washington St. and they played more fast tempo which fits better for Rice’s style and it’s what Coach D wants to run. Plus he is going to need two PG’s so even if you keep Rice as a backup I don’t think other schools will overpay for Rice after this year.

There were a lot of hurt feeling at UConn from some former players after Ollie was fired as I recall. Hurley was able to bring them back into the fold pretty quickly… once they see the culture building and winning, it’s easy to buy in

For real man - give it up and stop digging regarding Brad. That’s all anyone wants. As I said from the beginning, I know unequivocally that Brad was not interested in the job. But even for those who never believed me, it should be very obvious in light of the totality of what is out here and the way the story has changed that you were either lying or being lied to and believing the wrong people.  I believe it’s the latter because I choose to assume good faith.
