So, Wheeler is your Carpenter replacement. Hopper is Kamara's ideally. Then you just have to figure out a CJ West replacement and the DL is in pretty good shape. FWIW, Kyler Garcia has eyes on a freshman All-American bid according to his Twitter lol.

There's also Parker Petersen in the mix. Petersen and Wheeler are for sure a Carpenter type mold. Wheeler had 64 tackles this season and is a big pick up for us.

I'm hoping for Hopper because of his eligibility years. I'm assuming the staff wants to eliminate relying on the portal every single year at one position.

Is there a grid of portal targets by position anywhere? I feel like ITH or even in a similar thread to this one from last year, we had a view set up on page 1 that made it easy to keep track of who we're prioritizing, their stats, etc.

There's this: https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-football-transfer-portal-tracker-following-the-2024-regular-season/

Petersen committed to Wisconsin yesterday

What if Kamara is just a gamer, isn’t a great tester, and is advised to stay in school and get paid there? A boy can dream!

I don't think that's out of the question. Only worry--- his age. Can't fault the kid if he'd just want to get his professional career started and go down that path.

On the other hand... maybe making $500K+ (guessing) and getting another year of a masters program paid for would be his preferred route.

Landino strikes me as a full-on rotation guy going forward. He's got burst and motor, and getting non-garbage time snaps at DE as a freshman is a serious accomplishment.

completely agree.. and has made some "plays", etc

Ndukwe is another guy I'm intrigued about. We'll see. Excited for these position groups.

This guy is a DAWG. From a pure entertainment standpoint, I wish for someone like this. 3,000 passing, almost 1,000 rushing this season. I have no idea if he fits, but I'll be watching wherever he ends up.

No contact tag, expected he'll sign with Oklahoma school for $1.5M.

At least they knocked Alabama out of the CFP. I guessed WSU's OC poached him on the way out the door. Cut throat  business.

Yep, I forgot that's where he went. Wazzu can't catch a break since the PAC12 implosion.

Right, but do they have deeper pockets than every other team in the country? Because they are dominating the portal.

Edit to just add some perspective:

Ole Miss has 3 of the top 6 rated players in the portal on 247, and 4 out of the top 25. No other school has more than 1 from the top 25.

Someone told me the other day that IU is 12th or 13th in football NIL money,

Beebe is stuck at IU for now. He can’t get out of his commitment

I hope he doesn't turn in to a locker room problem.

Could be the kid is just getting some bad advice from his agent.

He should vet his agent better then. But, we shouldn't be the nice guy here, whatever the rules are... then roll with those. We can't be seen as weak in this regard.

I understand this sentiment, but I'm not sure if I would want a potential culture killer in the locker room.  If Beebe can get onboard and reaffirms his commitment, great I think he will thrive in CMS's offense...if not, CCC and crew will need to find an amicable solution.
