Looks like Rourke with good knees!

Great team leader too. More extroverted than Rourke.

This would be an incredible get.

looking at those highlights you would think he would have a lot of rushing yards but Rourke had about twice as many in 2022 and again in 2023.  Mendoza seems quicker and his accuracy near 70%. He seems like he could be a good fit but one that TJ might also be able to compete with for that role.

Scouring through the portal and found this name: DT Josiah Green from Dartmouth. 2x All-Ivy League including unanimous 1st team this year. From Indianapolis and played at North Central

I heard a rumor IU was after a couple of Ivy Guys. This could be him!

Also, IU offered Tulane DT Parker Petersen.

He was sacked 41 times compared to Rourke's 17 times this year.  And in college, sacks go against a QB's rushing yards (for some reason).  That probably explains the difference.

Mendoza got sacked 41 times this year

Kurtis-- 14 times in 2023 and 17 times in 2022.

In 9 of 12 games this year Mendoza had a carry for 10+ yards... Kurtis had 3 carries all year of 10+ yards and we ran basically ZERO QB zone read/QB wrap/inverted veer... whatever you want to call it...

Cal, via the film, clearly shows Mendoza's "legs" were regularly in their game plan. Just another element.

Mendoza seems to have a case of happy feet. A little too much bouncing around. Could be a product of bad pass pro but regardless something that can be fixed. Seems to throw accurately on the run and has mobility in general. I hate trying to gauge a player from a highlight reel but I admit I haven't watched a second of Cal football in a really long time.
