Notice that 2 of those schools we were unsuccessful in pulling their coach. Makes sense why they decided to stay put.

Very interesting, and Norlander’s piece was a good read.

The one I don’t get is Louisville: two years ago they stuck with Kenny Payne after he’d already proved to be, arguably, the worst high major head coach in modern history by leaps and bounds, and the rumored reason was they couldn’t foot the bill to fire him!

Thiam would be a great Center for obvious reasons. He's on my wishlist.

That dude is a game changer in the middle. A lot of people don't know he should've been a hs senior last year. As much as everyone blew Quaintence up as the center to get in the portal, I'd say they both are the same age and compare their stats.

Thiam, Freeman,  Curtis and Nyk Lewis, is my wish list. Add Miles to that and you would potentially have our 26-27 starting line-up in house this year.

Hasn't sailed yet but they're hoisting the anchor and we're probably still running up the pier.   Sounds like TN or Auburn.

Just where we have normally been over the past years…. On the dock!

Yea, I have to say I’m surprised by TT. I bet they have a singular west Texas oilman booster who loves basketball or something. Either way, McCasland with a top budget could be dangerous.

You’re right that’s exactly what happened at TTU.  An oil & gas guy is giving a boatload to NIL.

Getting a billionaire or two involved can, not surprisingly, quickly boost NIL in a big way.  BYU got the Jazz owner involved.  Arkansas got Tyson involved. St. John's just did this with some guy who sold large drink brands to Coke.  Dusty energized UM's rich donors.  I'm not sure what happened at UL, but it was probably just a big donor or two getting excited about Kelsey's program.

This coupled with the Big East being able to put more rev share towards bball (since they don't have fball to worry about) than the P4 football schools has made the whole CBB player payroll game much more competitive.

Half of it is going to Toppin.

My opinion would be he's a roster filler big and we still have about six spots to fill. Don't know if he's a good kid but assuming he is and assuming the price is right? As a roster-filler...sure, shy not.

Yep. Would be a good depth piece.

You might have to pry loose an Assistant coach in addition to Thiam himself if you want that to happen

Saw that one of the Twitter accounts said B. Tucker is meeting with coaching staff at Cook today.

I am not sure. I saw one guy tweet that but later when pressed he had no idea why Tucker was going in AH. MM was reportedly working out there last week, Tucker could have been doing the same since he is still a student here.

What school other than Michigan were we unsuccessful in pulling their coach? And did we really try pulling Michigan?

I have a feeling the call was made for the sake of due diligence, and was rather short:

"Dusty. Scott here. Well done this season, what a great start to your career in the Big Ten. Any thoughts on -- No? Yeah, I didn't think so. Just thought I'd check. Wish I could've made this call a year ago. See you around."

Disclaimer: I'm happy with DeVries and excited to see where we go. Watching him build out of the portal thus far has been refreshing.
