He's a 20-22 mpg piece that doesn't exist on the current roster. I've never made him out to be anything more than that lol. A 22/18 minute split with Federiko/Alexis at the 5 next year perfectly compliments the remaining personnel.

And I am still not so sure he would come here any how given he didn't the first time.....but money does talk!

All I know is I am going to trust Devries who has coached for 20 years in the college game over my opinion or any other person on a message board

His last coach said he was a "really good defender" verbatim from Goodman. Wilkerson stated he "locked in on the other end", then he stated, "I still have a long ways to improve"..

The things I REALLY liked about that, as I think this is something coach seems to have prioritized, is that he made sure guys were coming in with the right mindset. I think you made the point earlier about culture, or them playing hard, and if we actually have guys come in that have that "dog" in them, it won't matter what their previous stats say about them, they'll grow together.

I know we are beating a dead horse on whether we need another big or not BUT the thing that concerns me is foul trouble.

With just Bailey, Alexis, and Harris for our 5 spot we could get small in a hurry and I believe I read somewhere that both  Alexis and Harris are foul prone(see Malik Reneau). So one more big body just makes so much sense.

Absolutely. I love the fact that he admitted he has a long ways to improve. I think he is going to be a problem for a lot of teams this upcoming season.

Me too! But the entire point of a message board is to share opinions, so there will of course always be ones you don’t agree with. People not interested in reading food for thought from other random guys on the Internet probably should spend time elsewhere.

As a fan base we spent years complaining about our offense being driven through the post. I liked Federiko because he seemed to potentially provide a rim presence without needing touches on the offensive end, but also serviceable enough around the basket. Could Alexis not serve that role for us? Admittedly, have not watched much footage of him or know a ton about his game other than he has decent height at 6'8 and a big body at 240-250.

What other high defensive impact bigs have been out there, that wouldn't expect a decent usage in the post on offense? I like the idea/strategy of a perimeter oriented roster make-up, with a defensive minded rim protector/rebounder/opportunistic scorer.

I think that's the new way of small ball, modern basketball. With the exception of Auburn, the remaining F4 teams all had relatively low usage 5's whose skillsets are comparable to that of Federiko, Alexis (who was on a F4 team), etc

As far as Alexis goes, I do think he's better than his numbers suggest last year and he was simply the odd man out in what was an extremely good frontcourt rotation. IF he can stay healthy and out of foul trouble, 20+ mpg next year would be a blessing. I'm skeptical but do believe he will provide good minutes when he in fact is in the game.

That’s was really just a simplistic way of complaining about Woody.

There’s nothing wrong with running your offense through the post, especially if that’s where your best players are. Woody had much bigger problems, but people fixated on that. If DDV wants to run his offense through the post nobody will complain if he’s successful.

Well... Archie did too, I disliked his offense just as much, and he had less success than Woodson.

How do we know DDV doesn’t want a player like Frederiko but just not at that asking price?

When it comes to the defense I look at the Pacers. I know the NBA game is a little different but the Pacers defense has been horrendous for the last couple of years. They have been in the bottom 7 in defense the last two years. The last 50 games this year the Pacers have been in the top 10 in defense and they had the same players.  To me this shows if you put in a good system and the players follow the game plan even bad defensive players can be part of a good defense. The Pacers even had a rim protector and was still a horrible defensive team the last two years
