No new commits?! Man did we get spoiled last week. With Elyjah Freeman off the board lets take the money we had allotted for him and throw an even bigger bag at Moustapha Thiam and get him in Bloomington. Then add Kimani Hamilton, Jaiden Glover, Leo Curtis and a couple of high school kids and call it a day. What say you?? Enough talk of doughnuts.

Hey that's what I came here to say this morning. Back to the roster building

Who is in the queue this week?  Any potential names to know this week?

Stu is a name I heard. He doesn't do anything great but does the little things. I stress the little part.

Leo Curtis is a real name I have heard, but not much else right now. The big guy from UCF, maybe. Definitely centers this week.

Any word on if we will be bringing in any more freshmen.  I know Curtis is a freshman I think but I thought for sure one of the decommits from WV would follow him.

Who is this Stu you speak of.  Is he 7"2"

I am 6'00".

Long wingspan though. Could play the 4 at the HPER; not strong enough to guard a B1G post.

Can anybody give a relatively unbiased synopsis of how Devries has done in the transfer portal so far?  Is this looking like a team that will struggle in the bottom third of the Big 10?

I’d say that after last week we’re definitely in good shape and ahead of schedule. We’ve landed two quality PGs (both good defenders and passers), a highly sought after SG, an athletic wing who can rebound, his son at the stretch 4, and a skilled big where there’s some debate if he can reliably guard B1G level bigs.

Needs: depth in the post, and depth off the bench particularly scoring depth if Goode isn’t eligible.

I’d say being unbiased as possible he’s safely in A-/B+ territory overall and maybe graded out higher if you 1) either love a couple of the players, or 2) want to grade on a curve given the circumstances of starting from scratch.  There seems to be a narrative that there’s still plenty of money to fill out the roster the rest of the way.

tl;dr - doing good

We grabbed efficient scorers.

Bailey is as efficient as Galloway. TDV, Miles, Enright, Conerway, and Wilkerson are all more to significantly more efficient than KC, Rice, Cupps, MM, and TG.

Right now we are 5th in the country in the 24/7 portal rankings, so that’s one unbiased view to take or leave.

We have many more players to add and we reportedly have plenty of money left.

We won’t know until the season starts (we learned that the hard way last year, but we have a good college bball coach now) and we are far from done in portal, but so far things look good in my view.

Edit: I just remembered @lillurk looked at Torvik’s Rostercast and noted the following with just our current seven players: “Too early for what I’m about to do, but using Torvik’s rostercast, this squad projects about where last year’s Marquette or Baylor finished the year.  Add Goode and they slide up slightly to about where Oregon was.“

I’d add that hoop-explorer.com has us about 37th overall but 13th in the B1G. If we’re 37th overall, which seems fair but modest, I doubt we’re 13th in conference.
