I guess I meant can he play with Baily and Tucker and the rest our lineup and not clog things up. would he expect 30-35 minutes per game.

You still have Reneau syndrome brother. Bailey cannot play the 5 defensively. Not at any level. To quote one analyst "Bailey offers very little defensively,  opponents feasted on him in the paint."  Then you get into the numbers like opposition fg%, he might as well be putting the ball in the basket for them. He's slick offensively and has a huge assist rate though.

Thiam would be the biggest get of the portal for us. He changes games defensively and on the glass.

I could be wrong, but  I don't think CDD envisions Bailey as a true center.

Curtis would be a great understudy to Bailey at the 4 getting some minutes at the 5.

Yes he can. You guys have Mike Woodson syndrome... we got heads bashed in by plenty of team guarding Ballo with 6'10 skinny guys.

I still want Thiam, though.

A big question I’ve got that is hard to answer is how much do we have left to spend?  Estimating what we have spent so far is hard (I tried — the range is big), and NIL as we know is kinda fluid (there can be one-off little fundraises for players).

I would guess we can go for one, probably two more pricey Wilkerson type guys, with the rest being role players.

Thanks, this answers my question in that apparently we have "plenty of money left and then some if more is needed."  That's awesome!

Like Curtis. The perfect flyer to take. 100% behind this move.

The question become Bailey, is he gonna be more 4 or more 5. I think he can play 4. He’ll play both.

I think even with Curtis you try to get a more experienced rim protecting 5.

Maybe Bailey gives you 20-25min at C and another 5 at the 4 when Tucker is out. You’re then hoping some combination of Curtis and Sisley can soak up 15-20min.  Either way, the perimeters are gonna have to defend. You don’t need elite shot blocking if you can play like Ryans Wisconsin or Bennetts Virginia teams and keep guys in front of you and out of the lane.  Either way we’d be pretty thin up front but hopefully can score with the best of them.

My #1 preference now is the UCF 7 footer but would gladly take Leo Curtis.

Feels like the former would be more of the rim protector we need.

UCF kid can be mixed in and out of the starter group with Bailey.  UCF kid and Bailey are your first two bigs.  I'd still like to see another big off of the bench though for depth purposes that is experienced and can split the time with Leo.  Leo would be more developmental his first year with the hopes of taking a step forward going into year 2.

That is definitely not an either/or. One player is a top tier starter quality big, and the other is pretty developmental.

There are definitely 2 spots (and $$$) available for Curtis AND an older, more experienced center whether that’s Thiam or someone else

Interesting that there's Curtis smoke, considering he visited under previous staff so has some familiarity with the school already, could see things moving quickly if the money and pitch is right. If it happens, kind of makes you notice how many kids viewed Woodson as a negative for an otherwise attractive IU. A few off the top of my head...

Curtis (if it happens), Sisley - basically committed knowing Woody wouldn't be his coach. McNeeley - committed to IU but never came because of Woody's system. Fland - chose Calipari over Woody (who can blame him).

IU seems to make good on their money promises to players. That instantly makes it a pretty attractive spot for talented players. Plug in a competent coach who can show he is capable of winning here, and it's easy to see IUBB rolling in this new era of CBB.
