I think DDV has a good shot of working out here and not too worried about the portal this early. That said, seeing the seasons Louisville and Michigan just had… with coaches who grew up an IU fan / actually was a basketball manager here… and their early portal success … kills me thinking about how much was lost by bringing back a dead duck coach for a fourth year. Shameful leadership. The horse has been beaten to death 1000x over already but it’s truly mind blowing and IMO has left a really sour taste in a decent amount of fan’s mouths that’s gonna last for a while. Onward…

Well yeah. He better be stacking our roster and talent and be ready to win right flipping now. The boosters and admins better be ready to pony up whatever money it takes. Saving this program begins now and will not have much grace time for a poor start. May crushing it at michigan will shorten most fans patience imo. No room next season for 20 plus point losses and poor play imo

I'd say the admin and boosters are going to give him some grace if they gave him a 6 year deal.  I am not going to worry too much about getting upset until we get through a season and see the product.  It's been proven, by several teams not just IU, that getting the top named players in the portal doesn't always work out.  I like the team-building concept so much more than grabbing the biggest name.  I think DDV will be able to find some diamonds in the rough along with some proven shooters.  I'm excited for next season.

This is getting kind of hard to follow, as to which portal prospects we're currently still in play with and which have committed (apparently along with all the best shooters in the world to Louisville).

Mods -- would it crowd this board to have threads for the individual portal prospects like in the bball recruiting board, e.g., Dix? That way we could see the current portal recruiting status for each of these guys without having to dig through this thread -- just me but it'd be helpful to have something like this on the main board besides this thread

I am surprised there hasn't been any news concerning Bidunga at all since he entered the portal. I haven't heard of any visits he is going to take.

I agree with almost all of this. The problem is to get to the very top which is where iu needs to be you will absolutely need some top stars and then coach them into greatness. Not to many national champions lately with a bunch of scrubs who played as a good team imo

My personal opinion was that I valued Dix over Conwell but also thought we had a better shot at Conwell.

Truth is my opinion on both matters means squat and I have no idea who is going to end up where.

I've got bad news on the 20 pt loss thing. Every season DDV has had at least one 20+ loss and usually more than 1 and usually more like 25 pts. Hopefully that trend stops 25/26 season.
