Also we may not get big names and that’s okay. We need to focus on fixing the brand. We need a good season next year like Louisville had and capitalize on it next off season. That would be a very solid year 1. And as we've seen, can generate plenty of momentum as it has for UL. I so agree with your post, especially the bolded. It must be incredibly difficult to sell guys on a roster of two right now. Never coached a game at Indiana. Only got to Bloomington two weeks ago. Going to be very hard to sell some guys on that. Have to be able to identify the ones who that's not a problem for - one of multiple reasons that I like the Enright pick up. It's going to be much easier to sell star guys to play for you at a school after you've shown you run a competent system there and win. Money helps and we should still be able to build a good roster but I think we mostly knew it was very unlikely to land all of Conwell, Dix, and Bidunga. Quote

He also still has one or two guys in the athletic department, but they generally only feed him tidbits of whatever Dolson wants him to hear. He's gonna have to rebuild his relationships within the program. Hoosierfanyuh 1 Quote

Wouldn't be shocked if a similar scenario is being worked on. We really have no idea. Let's see at the end of the month. Are you saying Mgbako might be back?!?! (jk) Home Jersey 1 Quote
HoosierInParadise Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 If Conwell doesn't want to be at IU then who cares? It's the mentality I had to take after the coaching search. If the big names didn't want to come, then fine. Go get guys that want to play and win at IU. I know that money plays a big role in all this, but if the vision for the coach and recruit don't align, then it's best the recruit goes elsewhere. But when he turns us down too I guess it won’t matter Have you thought about what the 13-15 roster spots will get? If men’s basketball gets $4 mil in revenue sharing, that’s $266,000 each. So paying a starter a couple mil isn’t shocking imo. Quote

The fact players should ignore chirping on social media aside, think it would be silly to pretend they don’t take notice of comments like that. Again in no way saying that’s the specific reason for anybody passing on IU but eventually perception becomes reality and instead of seeing all the good stuff, outsiders can get hung up on if they want all the trouble that comes with it… JMO He came here to primarily get an offer yesterday and goes down there and signs today. They paid more than our staff had him worth obviously, so we surely got outbid. The rumor is 4 million they gave him. cybergates and Chris007 1 1 Quote

HoosierFan1994 Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 Last thing I'll say tonight: Coach DeVries could land the 92 dream team for next year. He has to start winning this season. Most of us were excited last year about the portal haul and it resulted in nothing. I'm very optimistic about the program going forward. I get the frustration though...we are all tired of mediocre basketball. Quote

You don't suppose we let Conwell know before leaving campus that, given the opportunity, we'd be willing to match / beat any offer he gets? Or suppose that never happened... you also don't think Conwell, being savvy about the best payday of his basketball career yet, may have gotten a number from UL and seen if any other schools wanted to give their best and final offer? Obviously their overall pitch was better. Doubt it was purely financial. But maybe DDV doesn't get the same resources as Woody. Lol 8bucks 1 Quote

If we lose enough recruitments we might decide to pay for the guys we want. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
