Speaking of no sense of humor: The other day I was watching some Monty Python - both Flying Circus and Holy Grail. My 7 year old son said this is just weird and not funny. I have failed as a parent.

With an attitude like that he’d best watch out for African swallows.

Maybe Firesign Theater is more his speed.  “Antelope Freeway one mile”.   LOL. :)

While I enjoyed 'Dwarf' best...

What is apathy?

Who cares?

'Bozos' had the "American Dream"...a bureaucratic dystopia...could never happen here...right!?*

Their wordplay acrobatics, puns, social commentary and satire opened the door for many others to follow...like Python.

Surreal and totally immersive...  Far out.  Vinyl was fun listening.  Digital, today, just doesn't translate...that or life has changed me.

  * Speaking of Bozo and Monty Python...the 1985 movie Brazil is about a dark-comedy dystopian future that focuses on government bureaucracy and a dream.  It was directed by Python's Terry Gilliam.  It included actors Robert DeNiro, Kim Greist, Sir Michael Palin, and other greats.  I loved it.  My wife did not.

Do not think that Brazil is Boys from Brazil.  Despite its title, the film is not about the country Brazil nor does it take place there; it is named after the recurrent theme song, Ary Barroso's "Aquarela do Brasil", known simply as "Brazil" to British audiences, as performed by Geoff Muldaur. (Per Wiki.)

Myles Rice into the portal. The portal rankings are going to be really interesting to look at. Mgbako and Rice will probably be top ten on most lists, Cupps will be top 75 or something, Carlyle will be up there if he goes and Bryson Tucker will probably be top 20 or so....yet, few IU fans will be particularly sad to see them go and will view them as necessary departures. Just something I'll be keeping in mind as the new roster is assembled.

I don't think Rice, Cupps, and KC will be highly ranked.

At this point, I think it's fair to say that most portal rankings aren't worth the paper they're written on...

It's all relative.  For one team/coach, a guy might be a top ten guy overall for fit in their system, but in the grand scheme of things, might be a guy ranked #100 overall in the portal.  Obviously some guys will transcend fit by just talent alone.  But for a lot of these guys; fit in the system matters way more than just how talented they may be.  (See: your 2024/2025 Indiana Hoosiers)

I just checked the 247Sports portal rankings: Reneau is 12th, Mgbako is 31st, Gabe Cupps has slid down to 84th but is still ranked as top 100. I certainly don't agree with the rankings but Reneau, Mgbako and Rice are going to be coveted by high-major programs.

I had not looked at rankings since the initial top ten list I saw that had both Malik and Mgbako in the top ten so my apologies on not looking at updated rankings and overstating it initially. My overall point of the transfer rankings not being much of a guidance on eventual impact stands.

On the topic of portal rankings -- just an observation: These portal kids are much easier to rank -- they have completed actual seasons of D1 and/or D2 ball.  High school kids are much more of a mystery and tougher to rank -- less tape, competition can vary a lot, and they have the uncertainty of translating to college ball.

Personally, when it comes to portal players, while I like high rankings (I can't help it), it's very easy to just watch the player playing college games and reach a conclusion on your own.

It's a good point program fit is important and rankings don't really capture that.  I'm glad CDD understands this.
