Gonna likely be our first addition.  My opinion is known.  Look at his interest post on X.  All mid-majors and Indiana.  I think that speaks for itself.

Someone needs to show everyone how to run the offense.  It's a good add.

I truly understand what you're saying but we have a new coach with a new staff who's going to have to recruit a bunch of players to fill out a roster for next season in a relatively short window.  We're going to have to accept the fact that some of these new kids are going to have warts on their bball resume.

I don’t disagree but I don’t see it as a can’t miss.  I have always been big on players that can play both ways.  Despised the Roth pick up for example because he was so god damn slow defensively.

I generally do not understand the angst in adding Enright? You’re potentially needing to fill 13-15 roster spots. How anyone can attribute adding a veteran leader with years of experience in DeVries system as anything but a good thing is beyond me.
Also important that he knows the system

Because he’s not a Big Ten quality guard.  I mean if he’s at the walk-on level of minutes, no complaint from me.  If he’s expecting or we are counting on meaningful minutes from him, it’ll be a struggle.  Big ten isn’t going to call his flops.  I’m glad he hustles.  He doesn’t shoot free throws well, not a quality you want in a point guard.  It’s like people who tried to convince me Cupps would be a good contributor his 1st year here and all B1G as an upper classmen.  I tried to tell those folks as well.

He’s one player lol. He also lead the Big East in assists before getting hurt. Is he a 35+ mpg lead guard? Of course not, have not seen a single person suggest that. Can he play 20-25 mpg surrounded by shot makers and scorers? Yeah, absolutely.

If I recall correctly isn't his Assist/TO ratio decent? If he's a sub to give whomever the starting PG will be a breather and he's looked at to be a distributer, I understand it.

It’s above 2:1. DePaul’s best player last year was CJ Gunn…think about that? Somebody has to distribute the ball to Tucker and god forbid somebody like Ryan Conwell. You don’t need a 20 pt scoring PG who takes 15 shots a game if that’s who you have out on the wing.

DePaul is a trash team. I’m not saying Conwell as the 1. He’s a 1,2,3.

I’m saying you’ve got guys like Bruce Thornton running point. But we want Enright to eat up 20-25 minutes. He can’t create advantage off the dribble to beat his man to draw extra defenders. He can’t shoot the 3. He can’t shoot FTs. He’s a tenacious defender that’s undersized that won’t get the benefit of the whistle. Doesnt get steals which you’d like out of your PG. The assist numbers are strong. Also not in B1G and against some awful teams.

Javon Small played 36 min a game for WV. Yet we want Enright to play 20-25 when some dynamic (not just scoring) could fill that spot is wild.

Tucker played in 8 games for West Virginia last year. They didn’t have a volume 2 guard either. So yes the need for a Javon Small type PG not only made sense, but was needed.

I’m just telling you, if your 1, 2, and 3’s mentality is to shoot the ball every time they touch it next year, you’re going to have issues. Again, I will withhold judgement on Enright until the roster is set. But if our 2-4 looks something like Conwell, Powell, DeVries then yes I want a PG who doesn’t turn the ball over while facilitating the offense.

Maybe DeVries wants a ball dominant PG like Small and will surround him with 3 and D type players, I don’t know. But roster construction is a real thing and you need guys who not only fill but understand and embrace certain roles.

To be fair, Woodson can't coach guards for ****

Enright isn't close to a starter in the B1G. His size alone says that. One bench piece for one year. I'm more than fine with that.

I mean you can complain about his shooting but size?  He is 6’2” and 180 lbs.  In Drakes year 2 he shot 45% from 2 and 43% from 3.  Holtmann and Diebler have a really crappy offense and it’s hard to watch.  Lots of standing around, no movement and having a guard attack the basket.

Somebody better tell he can't shoot the three otherwise it'll screw up his career 88 of 237 numbers (37%).

They are going off last year.  His second year at Drake he was shooting 6 spg and was a facilitator.  He clipped a 43% rate.

It doesn't matter what anyone on a message board 'wants' him to play.  Unlike under Woodson, I expect if he comes to IU the minutes he plays will be allotted correctly and not just given because of some 'promise' that only changed once it became apparent that Woodson wasn't going to be coming back.
