To me it looks like the pass almost went through his hands, he squeezed tight with the front facing part of his hands to compensate and brought it down at the perfect angle to stay pinned on the rim but none of the downward momentum to put it through the cylinder.

For as much basketball as we all watch, amazing how often you see something you never knew was even possible during random games.
