Why would I answer a question based on an obviously flawed premise? Heaven help a fella…

Like how'd you get so holy? I'm honestly impressed. Some bum @$$ responses by you today.

I’ll try and do better by you, okay? Lol... I’ve never beaten my wife to the point of the cops getting involved. Don’t think that makes me so holy… just means I won’t search for reasons to deny the obvious.

It shouldn’t matter.

It 100% should matter. And then the actions that transpired immediately after that, should matter. All of it should, if we are actually interviewing him, etc etc.

It 1000000% matters

How many of you holy guys who have never made one mistake supported knight? Didn't he stuff cops in trash cans and throw plants at people to just name a few things. I have to assume you were calling for him to be fired daily?

Sooo... you don't know if she punched him first?

he obviously got out of control.  She ultimately said one of the things he did was bit her in self defense.  Only way that happened is if she had him in a really wicked headlock.  Now do we really want a coach that his fiance can get him stuck in a headlock?

I love it. Way more enjoyable than these holier-than-thou posts. put him in a full nelson

Knight berated people and physically laid his hands on a player(s) and assaulted a cop in Puerto Rico.  Was that because of the 'pressure of a bigger job'?

Knight had anger issues. He wasn’t an alcoholic women beater. In my experience, yes the stress of the job probably exacerbated Knights issues, but he had enough runway to make it 25yrs before he did something leading up to his dismissal.

Not only is alcoholic woman beater a bigger issue it is probably more likely to be triggered by elevated stressors…which again we have proof of with Beard. He last 1.5 yrs at his dream job before he flipped out. He’s a backwoods small timer coach. He can coach his balls off, but not in prime time.

Even Kentucky knew better than to put him back in that position.

Yeah, once you get to the point where your debating whether putting your hands on a student vs a woman is ok, the moral high ground argument is lost. Not to mention the awful quote about rape. Knight was not a good guy who was a great coach. And that's ok. But for many IU fans, there is such a disconnect between how we view Knight and how we view everyone else. People here would not have hired Bob Knight if they had the chance.

Alcohol is a powerful drug.

If you have a current employee that has issues you would discipline them and try getting them assistance.  If you are hiring for a high-profile position, you are not going to hire someone from the outside that has already displayed behavior that is deemed inappropriate. Thus, Beard, Wade, Jans, and Sean Miller would have almost no chance.  IU hired someone who had prior issues in Sampson and that bit them in the rear.  That mistake won't happen again.
