Who cares? You don't inflict that level of injury on a woman under any circumstances.

And again, if he had any claim to innocence, why didn't he contest a firing that cost him $25 million?

Sooo... you don't know if she punched him first?

Beard went to a title game....that's not small-time.

By that token, Brad Stevens is small-time because Butler isn't a major program.....except he made it one.

Criticism of whether Stevens can handle the big time is valid although it is considerably muted by the fact he’s coached and now led the front office of the Celtics.

Beards already proven he can’t handle the pressure of a bigger job. Just like Gillespie and Sampson. Small time.

I did say that. I think he has a chance, he's down the list but saying no chance is dumb on my part. He would have to be vetted and OK'd by Whitten but there is a way to get there. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that but I'm not saying there is no chance.

The fact that he is so interested in the job probably gets him on the list.  But as you said, it still doesn't put him high on the list, just on the list.

First off all of this is way over my head but I saw on another board that maybe he negotiated a settlement with Texas behind closed doors. Is that possible? I don't know

I.mean I feel like the people who have beard locked up in prison and guilty as sin also had the Duke lacrosse guys guilty as sin on day one. The holier than they attitude of some is unreal. And rush to judgment no matter what.

Absolutely, and I don't know enough about it to get into the intricacies of those levels. I just don't think there is a magic pill we can take and pretend like nothing happened.

No, not at all. Something definitely major went down that night....

It's also humanly possible that two HUMANS made mistakes that evening.

The type of issue matters here whether they want to acknowledge it or not. If he had been charged with and subsequently acquitted of DUI, or honestly, even convicted, I probably wouldn’t care.

Im not rehashing my stance, yes the guy can flat out coach, and there’s a reason he’s at a notoriously scummy win at all costs school within a conference that in general has a win at all costs mentality.

IU shouldn’t be a win at all costs school, no matter how much I dislike Mike Woodson and bad basketball.

This 100X. I'm not unwilling to overlook a variety of past mistakes, especially if the coach has owned up to it and changed his ways. But domestic violence is a different matter, especially for a guy who has (unless I've missed it) displayed no remorse. This is a campus with a student population that is ~50% female. You can't make someone with a background like this the most visible public face of your institution.

I mean there is no doubt he wants it and that he would succeed. I trust Dolson and Whitten to do their homework but hopefully that is after the godfather offer for BS and a strong press for May

Knight berated people and physically laid his hands on a player(s) and assaulted a cop in Puerto Rico.  Was that because of the 'pressure of a bigger job'?

Why would I answer a question based on an obviously flawed premise? Heaven help a fella…

For me Beard is as good of coach as anyone on the list. Maybe he should run for President in three plus years.
