I nominate The Hump to be the next coach.  If you can’t beat it, join it.

How old is the "Hump" is it the  same one that talked about when a certain MW was talking about in New York ?

Interesting little factoid: the Celtics(19) and the Lakers(18) have combined for 37 NBA championships. The next most is Golden St with 5. Now, in the combined history of those 2 dominant franchises, anybody want to take a swing at who has coached the most games WITHOUT winning 1 of those 37 championships? That would be Brad Stevens with 636. Oh, and the HC before him, Doc Rivers, and the one following him, Joe Mazzulla(Udoka doesn’t count) both have rings. Am I saying that Stevens isn’t top shelf? Of course not. But he’s not K either, at least not yet, and if I have to listen to Stevens-as-Savior talk for the next 2 1/2 months I’m probably just gonna have to lightly troll it every now and then. Somebody’s gotta be that guy.

Don’t the bulls have 6?

OK, not sure if this is the right thread but curious. Any speculation on what our roster looks like next year? I know, I know too many variables and I suppose it really all depends on who the next coach is but it is more fun than watching this current team get humiliated by Purdue.

Mbacko-probably gone

Reneau-depends on coach?

Rice- really hope he stays?

Carlisle- would love to see him with a decent coach

Tucker- dad seems to like Woodson?

Cupps-Well liked on campus who knows?

Newton- maybe back to Georgia to be closer to home?

Sisley- signed with IU not Woodson

Zrno- mystery guy, depends on coach?

Braylon Mullins-Hire a decent coach and he decommits U Conn and comes to IU lol

My dad and I on a walk were having this conversation about who would stay and who would leave.

I don't think IU will win tonight  no idea how the score will be ,also doubt they will win on Tuesday  either .I  think the only reason he

(Woodson  )  won when we played PU  was because of TJD and JHS  and the others .Also did TJD have a lot of player only meetings which I think he probably helped guide the team .This current team seem so ill fit they don't seem to have a real leader and are all trying to do their own thing .

I am worried if they were to go on a winning streak that year 5 is forced upon us and if that is the case may have to look for a new basketball team to root for .My dream is find a CC coach in basketball .

Keeping hearing names but don't know all of them  .

No winning streak happening here, and the majority thinks NW is gone no matter what.

I think we will get beat by 20+.

Did you ever get rid of that jockstrap yet?

Buzz Williams would kill it at IU

You and I are going to have very different reactions to his inevitable hiring. Lol…

I’d probably throw him in the Brownell category. We’d be fine, but no championships incoming. He’s also a strong personality and I wonder if he’d eventually wear thin with the Indiana HS coaches.

Would succeed damn near anywhere. And he's 52 years old.

If we could get Buzz Williams at IU I would be completely satisfied, elated, optimistic, sky-high happy. Yay Buzz!! only downside is that he would be really expensive - would take $7-8 million a year salary and has a $13.4 million buyout.

Would be a  very good day, but he's kinda sorta starting to age out of being a long-term solution.

You worry too much. It's a message board dude and Woodson isnt going to lose me any sleep. I sleep like a baby every night. The question is how do you sleep.

....at 56, if I didn't have to get up and pee once or twice a night, then I'd sleep like baby too! lol

He’s probably at the top of my “we can definitely get this guy with enough money” list.

I wouldn’t start there but he’d be #3 on my decision tree.

Mbacko-probably gone - Agree he is probably gone, too one dimensional.

Reneau-depends on coach? - Reneau stays, although his role on the team would completely change IMO.

Rice- really hope he stays? - I hope he stays, he needs to develop mentally and physically.

Carlisle- would love to see him with a decent coach - I think we can do better in the portal.

Tucker- dad seems to like Woodson? - The talent is there, we just can't see it yet, need someone to pull it out.  However, gone

Cupps-Well liked on campus who knows? - He loves IU, but will never have a good shot at playing.  Gone (Dayton?)

Newton- maybe back to Georgia to be closer to home? - Will probably transfer.

Sisley- signed with IU not Woodson - He is IU through and through, will flourish here with the right coach.  He'll be better than anticipated.

Zrno- mystery guy, depends on coach? - Nick Z 2.0?  He will stay committed to IU.  He will be a mystery player.

Braylon Mullins-Hire a decent coach and he decommits U Conn and comes to IU lol - I thought of this too the other night.  Right coach may sway his commitment?  Stevens (close to home) or Hurley (and play for a D-bag).

We need a rim protector, a dog of a wingman, and a dead eye SG.  We say that every year though.

Williams would actually build a program.  He has done it at 3 different places.  He has a shelf life of about 5 or 6 years before he moves on.   IU needs someone to reset the culture and get them to being in the conversation again.  Buzz would do that.   Worry about championships when someone gets the program out of the middle of the B1G

If I were in a bunker somewhere with Dolson strategizing, I’d probably suggest something like the following.:

1) Call Stevens (or May if you love him) and give them the godfather offer. Let em know you’re getting it right this time and they’ll likely never have an opportunity to coach at IU (if that means anything to them) or make this much money coaching again.  Give them 48hrs to decide and move on.

2) While you got the donors checkbook open, call up one of Bennett or Wright—whomever you think is likelier to coach again—and offer them the same deal but with 5-6 years instead of 10. It’s their best chance to 2x or 3x their net worth at this age and IUs best chance at conf and National titles in the next 5 years.

3) Pick your guy from the McDermont, Devries, shaka, Buzz (for usps) group of guys who are guys who Midwest guys who are experienced and can coach their @$$ off. Offer them 3-5mil knowing multiple S16/E8s are a floor and a good baseline to build off of.

If you can’t accomplish any of that you don’t deserve to be the AD at IU.

Just saying; your option three would have the effect of saying to McDermont, Devries, Shaka, and Buzz "Wanna take a pay cut/very minimal raise to come to IU?"

IU isn't to holy for Pearl. Dolson wanted to pull the trigger. Beard there's just no way that one would happen.

I was told Buckner had given Dolson the okay to make a move if it was for a big fish?

The one thing that worries me about McDermott was that he did get to a P5 team before and it went very poorly....four straight losing seasons at Iowa State, 18-46 in the Big 12.  I will say prior to IU hiring Kelvin Sampson, McDermott was a guy I thought IU should consider based on him putting Northern Iowa on the map.

Not saying I wouldn't want him, but there is that one hiccup in his resume.
