Yeah it's a completely different mindset and it requires so much more insight, foresight, prep, planning, practice, among so many other things. RMK himself practiced what he taught his players on and off the court. He led by example and pushed them to heights of greatness they probably didn't even imagine for themselves. College ball has its own culture and structure and MW just doesn't understand it, or he just doesn't care. Either way it's frustrating and painful.

MW coaches and runs a team like it’s the NBA.  He has no specific system he runs, he just tries to either recruit, which is nonexistent, or obtain the best talent available that will play for him.  He thinks he can win with having more talent than the other team.  He doesn’t coach with any sense of urgency, matter of fact what he is doing is not coaching.  He doesn’t do any game preparation and strategizing but the other is.  They are preparing and playing to their strengths and taking advantage of IU’s weaknesses.   That is why Woodson is 15-37, I think that is what I read, against quad 1 teams and that is because quad 1 teams are better coached

Damn, I thought I’ve seen a lot.  Respect, total respect!!!  You have literally seen it all and then some!

I have to admit sometimes I was too busy running restaurants to pay attention.

Oh I know. There is zero prep, zero effort or real thought put into any aspect of his job. Most of each game he spends sitting in his chair looking completely lost as to what's happening on the court. Northwestern repeatedly abused Mgbako with threes off screens. That's preparation and being able to recognize an advantage real time. That's X's and O's. That's just one example. We're going to see a lot more examples in many different aspects of coaching in our upcoming games. Most, if not all of the teams we're heading into will recognize our weaknesses in the film room and maximize the advantages they can glean from it on court during game time.

I was a freshman at IU during the undefeated 75-76 season.
You went to a game in ‘64?  Thanks for making me feel young……

Something tells me that the most recent BB commit is a diversion from the Woodson camp. They are wanting everyone to think that he still plans to be here and can pull in some good players despite the current situation….

It’s not. Although Woodson tried to get the spin out there that he recruited him really hard lol

I think many of us on here will be right there with you.  I bet you’ll see a lot of empty seats in AH.  Apathy is starting to set in with the fanbase!

IMO, apathy is a better weapon against the administration and Woodson than simply booing... but if "booing" is your only weapon, use it!

There no game preparation.  He doesn’t play to his advantages and the opponents weaknesses.  He’s lazy and puts little effort into anything related to coaching, recruiting and developing.

Damn I feel old because my first real memories come from Woodson playing at IU

That 1980 Big Ten championship run was something else.  Fondly remember that final game against tOSU.  Damn near cried when the Boilers bounced us on their way to the FF.  I miss that Woody.

I think these home games can and probably will get ugly

Facts, all of them. It's been hinted at that there are psychological issues in play with Woodson. If true, I have to wonder how severe they are, and I have to wonder how long they've been affecting him. If they were present pre hiring I then have to wonder if the administration knew and allowed the hire anyway. But that's a complicated rabbit hole in and of itself. Hell this whole situation is. Who knows what the truth is as to why he does things the way he does. I just simply cannot understand how he thinks he can win without completing a single coaching task required to be successful, especially knowing who HIS coach was. It just breaks my brain. I'm not a coach and the extent of my on court experience was getting up roughly a thousand shots a day decades ago and playing one vs one against one of the actual players at my school and even I understand this stuff. I just watch our games and the whole time I'm asking myself how he doesn't get it? Even I know you can't just chuck money to hang banners so someone please explain it to me :(

The only way he's getting to the final four is by buying a ticket.

Way less likely but Cheetah Clean car wash had a raffle I won for a trip to 2023 FF in Houston

No thanks. I think if he gets year 5 I'm done even following iu anymore. I'd need to find a serious program to root for.

Non zero chance I'd be looking for a serious program too, hate to say that because I grew up watching IU games with my dad and loved the program. They were so laughably unserious when they hired Woodson to begin with, keeping him for a 5th year would just prove they have no intention of actually winning anything ever again.

You’ll be one of three, you, Isiah and Randy Whitman

Don't forget Buckner. The program he supposedly loves would be dead and buried but his buddy would have the job.

The best weapon would be not buying tickets etc, they would absolutely notice when the money dried up.
