Yes of course, but for an athletic department that brings in a **** of money, I’m surprised they are actually laying employees off. I figured that would only occur at the lower P4 level.

The percentage of departments that have excess money each year is very low. And this is money taken away from an existing budget. Think 20% of a big budget now allocated somewhere else. That’s what is happening.

I think Hova already made this reference in the thread but if that is actually the dynamic playing out, totally feels like a season finale for the IU basketball version of Succession lol. Somehow despite the past 25 years... I have hope we can enter a new golden age for IU athletics. If we make the right hire and that comes to fruition... a lot of the thanks goes largely to Curt Cignetti and IUFB IMO.

Dolson and Whitten too, obviously... if they get it done.

Man, I hear you and tend to agree ... but it sure feels like we've all seen this movie before ... I keep looking at Cignetti and telling myself to "trust the process".

Maybe needed more time to figure out logistics of who would be the interim, how to message the decision, etc... ? Hopefully

And that takes longer than an hour?   No, the circus is missing some clowns.

As Chris has stated, this stuff takes awhile to get in order.  This is a major institution, and they just do not change directions on a dime.  This is like changing direction of a big tanker.  It takes awhile to get everything in order.  At this point it should not really matter to any of us WHEN this happens as long as it happens.

Nonsense.  How long did it take them to launch Knight when he violated “zero tolerance.”

Well, you all may remember me fondly as the Woodson defender from last spring.  Let it be known that I am now 100% firmly planted in the "Fire Mike Woodson" camp.  You all were right.  I was wrong, and I'm man enough to admit that.  I was at the game on Tuesday.  The vibe was off before the game even started.  Get rid of him now.

Basketball aside , I always admire people are not afraid to be wrong. In the end we all just want what’s best for our school. Good on ya.

What's the deal with Tucker?

Ok I have previously said the Clif Marshall sand pit criticisms were baseless, and he wasn’t/isn’t to blame for IU’s (seemingly very normal) injury luck.

However, basically the only thing Tyme has convinced me of: Marshall’s approach is not adequately preparing IUBB for the conditioning required for hoops.

Yes it takes longer than an hour to formulate the plan, iron out the plan so it's fully baked, and execute it.

This has been a long, drawn out process. We all know that CMW has been protected by QB and Scott Ferguson... it seems they've done all they can at this point. At the risk of sounding like Kathy... Dolson needs to whip "alignment" from his "stakeholders" and keep everything in tact. IMO/Hopes, Dolson has the ball at the 1 yard line right now and has to make sure he does not fumble it. QB / SF may not be able to save him for the rest of the year but they can certainly influence how he is exited and the timing. If it takes a few extra days to massage everything and he leaves mid-season, I am good with that, the extra 2 losses will just go on Woody's record while they figure it out :)

Been saying that since he got here! You don't need that kind of muscle conditioning for basketball!

Do not throw a quick slant when you have Marshawn Lynch in the backfield! Thank you!

Down the road, having to drop sports may become necessary.  And just as the NCAA approved adding women's wrestling.

It's still Mike Woodson's responsibility to talk to Cliff Marshall about what he wants, though. If MW believes there's an issue and he's not talking to Clif about it, then MW is to blame, not Cliff.

Both are to blame. It's the S&E guy's job to know what appropriate S&E for the sport is.
