Maybe. I hope Dolson is the new King. He might be. He built up football, which resulted in the University being showcased all season long including on Big Noon and Game Day, and he is going to increase our athletic dept revenue by way more than anyone else ever has, which everyone will notice. He was right about wanting to get rid of Woody last year. Things have changed. It's Scott's athletic dept! (fingers crossed) Kentuckysucks, go iu bb, thebigweave and 3 others 6

We were 7.5 underdogs which is very sad that were ever an underdog in basketball to PSU Yeah, I gotcha. Sad that this is where we are now. Stand by it though. Davis' last year we made it in as a 6th seed and lost in the Rd of 32 to Gonzaga after beating SDSU in the first round. I still remember that SDSU game, Robert Vaden made a clutch three to seal the game. That was another talented team but we had lost DJ White with a broken foot. That 2005-2006 team started to play better when Davis announced he was resigning at the end of the season in February. This seemingly ended the distraction of his uncertainty and players all rallied around him each other to finish the season on a strong note. Davis was also well liked, so it's not surprising the team wanted to rally behind him. Robert Vaden followed him to UAB and I think there was a time that we weren't sure if DJ was going to stay either...of course he stayed which set the tone for an incredible 1-2 punch between him and Gordon a couple of years later. BTW - Gordon was at the PSU game and spoke to the team after. Hoosier DaDa, WeeDerkaNaut, MikeRoberts and 1 other 4

He’ll talk about the hump, he’ll take credit for them hitting 3’s instead of the “I can’t shoot for them” or something like that tkbbn 1

jumpshot53 Posted January 7, 2025 Posted January 7, 2025 Well if Reneau doesn't return soon and we start losing, Woodson will treat that injury like he treated X's injury. "Man, we were going to be so good, but losing X (Reneau) was just too big to overcome. Not Mike Woodson's fault. Buy me some more players and stop bothering me." signed the King. thebigweave 1

The one difference being back then certain standards still seem to exist among most of the fan base and we felt entitled to return to greatness sooner rather than later. tkbbn 1

Any respectable coach would just have their secretary dump them in the garbage. His agent and supporters were all too happy to plead to the press to try and curry sympathy and deflect from Davis’s own missteps. He was in way over his head and I have some appreciation for that fact which is why he wasn’t able to successfully navigate fairly easy and common obstacles. But as the wise poet Coughlin once said, “all things end badly, or else they wouldn’t end.” Scotty R 1
TheWatShot Posted January 7, 2025 Posted January 7, 2025 1 hour ago, Scotty R said: Yep, and our fans treated him terribly over the years He brought a lot of it on himself. From publicly complaining about his salary to openly talking about his desire to coach in the NBA some day, he never came off as someone the fans should rally behind. I think a lot of the mythologies about how IU is a bad job because the fans aren't good to the coaches started with his whining about how he was treated here.
