Well unfortunately this game isn't going to tell us much aside from we're better than a bad Butgers team. A team like that that's missing their best player, you just lean on them until they tire out. Ace made it interesting but beyond him and a little help from Williams, IU could simply out talent them tonight and not go 1-20 from 3s again and win. Weird vibe from the crowd tonight also.

Games like tonight are why I have zero faith in this being Woodson’s last season. The team will win enough to save his job, but nowhere near as many as it should win. We’re stuck in this hellish cycle until the King decides to fully retire.

Exactly what I was saying. I wasn't joking about the extension. He will barely make the tourney and that will be enough. He isn't going anywhere imo. And when you have the most exspensive roster in the league winning 12 games really should not be that hard

He’s not yet, he’s going to wait until we have gotten our 10th win

Didn't say they wouldn't but that wasn't the point about Beard

You are the one that brought up Davis and Ollie.  Sorry about your "point" and double digit losses.  Beard can flat arsz coach.

Last thing on Beard and I am not going to say anything about off the court. Do I think he is a good coach and can do well at IU and that is a yes. I don't think he is a sure fire guarantee coach. If we hire a new coach and this is his record the next 7 years would you want him to get another year

I don’t really disagree but there is a path currently to the tournament should we go 12-8 or 13-7.  If we start off with a home loss to one of the easier teams on this schedule it makes the path much less likely.

Please show me 12 wins?   That’s a pipe dream.

Well, this team is NOT going to win the B10 title.....will most likely lose in the first round...again and Woody keeps his spot on the bench. .500 or little above and we beat a team or two along the way that gets the rubes pumped up....its the formula we have been seeing for decades....sigh....

I hope Hornsby doesn’t read this, he might just go off the deep end!

Nope it is what it is. My point was there is a very good chance he is back if he slides into the tourney. That's why the move needed to be made last year.

It’s okay to want and watch wins and not want Woodson as our coach next year. My dream scenario is that we have a good season and he retires “on top”. I understand the fear of woody doing just well enough and him returning because of it. From the sounds of if it, which i hope is true, he’ll be gone unless we have some F4 run. If we end up having a great season it will probably be due to him making some major adjustments. Just weird behavior to be upset with a loss.

i do agree my hopes are not very high very Penn state though haha

YES.  And you left a Big 12 tournament championship off your 'list'

I don't know, if he makes a S16 or E8 I think he has a pretty good case to stay.

I completely get your perspective though.  For me, my only priority is Woody out, I don't think anything else matters, so I get worried if we do enough to keep him around, but what we do to keep him around isn't anything special (something like don't compete for the conference title, but win a tourney game or two).

Ideally he would announce his retirement and I could just pull for IU like usual.  Everyone wants what's best for IUBB, but the way the program is run with all the political influences, what's best for IU gets complicated, unfortunately.

The penn state game isn't even a true road game. I bet half the fans will be iu fans. And usc isnt that great. He could easily start 4-1. But if he retires doesn't he lose the buyout money? The expectations are very low even if he just makes the tourney I think that saves his job. I simply don't see quinn firing him if he wins 20 games and makes the toyrney
