May could work out well, I just hope we do a complete search and don’t give preference to guys with IU ties.  IU ties don’t help.

It'd be one thing is they're actually a good coach. Woodson, well, isn't.

I’d scream for joy if we got Dusty. Top 10 kenpom team right now in his first year at Michigan. He’d have us rolling with our resources
Yeah I just don't see him leaving michign after one year. As always our timing stinks. The king just had to have that 4th year.

I see this a lot and I'm curious why not? Sure, it's not real common for a coach to change jobs after a year, but coaches don't usually have the chance to move to their alma mater after one year somewhere else, either.

Because he has a true top tier university, fan base, and NIL budget, all while being within shouting distance of his relatives. And he committed there; when everything is perfect it's natural to honor commitments.

I don’t think it’s likely (at all) that we pry May from Michigan after one year, but I wouldn’t say that it’s a complete and total long shot. Not exactly apples to apples, but Roy Williams left Kansas for UNC… so… never say never.

Dusty May would be a 1000% unmitigated World Series winning grand slam home run. That doesn't mean he would guarantee success, but Dusty May?

  • Final Four coach
  • 20 years left in his career
  • College basketball grinder
  • Super-modern offense
  • Hyper-energetic, yet sane
  • Has a top ten recruiting class lined up
  • Buyout is doable
  • Grew up idolizing Bob Knight, Greg Graham and Alan Henderson
  • From Bloomfield, IN; wife is a local too
  • Grew up absolutely living and dying with every IU game
  • Attended RMK camps every year as a kid
  • IUBB manager
  • Got his degree from IU - was a freshman living in Wright Quad just like many of the rest of us
  • Hell, he says one of his absolute all time basketball memories is winning the IU all-campus intramural basketball championship.
  • Super-tight with Dolson
  • Super-tight with so many IU former players, boosters, managers, and luminaries

Holy crap - UM is a tough place to leave, but if it were possible it would be unimaginably extraordinary good news.

He may work out very well.  I like his modern system and demeanor.  Most of his accomplishments are based around one tourney run though.  We’ll see how he does this B1G season.  I think he will do a pretty good job.

I don’t care much about all the IU stuff, which are the last nine points on this list.  I like it, but don’t think it’s key to winning games here.

I just want Scott to consider all options and not weigh the IU connection too much.

The 1,000% Grand Slam hire is in Boston.  I don’t think we pry him out though.

Michigan will give him whatever he wants assuming he has a good year. Iu will spend all it's money getting rid of the king and go cheap imo. It's the iu way.

Go Rutgers!

The atmosphere will be electric tonight with the king roaming the sideline. Can't wait. Maybe his buddy who wears the Woody hat will be behind the bench.

Didn’t go cheap on football.

See Brad Underwood leaving Ok State after one season as well...1596470700_Screenshot2025-01-02at11_48_54AM.thumb.png.57e9c11d5536ff77c283bccf62a17fd8.png

I know how the buyout works and I expect quinn to give him more than the buyout

You also claimed to know what a Ponzi scheme is even though you didn't.

You're always excessively negative. You've said both that Woodson will get saved by lame duck Buckner for a 5th year and that he'll get paid more than his contract if he is let go. Neither will happen.

Williams was at KU for over 15 years and had already turned UNC down once before taking the job.

Dolson didn't go cheap on the football hire and have already extended more money to the program
