It is hard to get to a Final Four and there is more parity but we have a dream (some would say ridiculous fantasy) to once again be a legitimate blue blood.

In spite of the 64 team expansion,  since ‘84, in that timeframe UCONN has won 5 nattys, Duke 5, UNC 4, Kansas 3, Nova 3 and UK 3.  The top tier programs have continued to win a disproportionate percentage of the championships. Would be fun to be back in those conversations.

If the people expected to enforce the rules don't care about them, then the rules aren't worth the paper they're written on.

However, your point is valid. Knight played by the NCAA rules... the majority of Knight's warts were with his personal behavior (Puerto Rico, the LSU fan in the bar, etc).

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but my takeaway from the Trilly stuff is that Scott wants to replace Woodson with Pearl but he has to convince the higher ups to let him. I could be way off on that but that's the way I see it.

Student-athletes are now allowed to sign and work with agents, so the need for some under the table funny business no longer exists.

The Trilly stuff is (a) Trilly said that he thinks Pearl would be IU's option 1 if Woody was let go (b) previously he said he reached out to someone close to Pearl and they said "the IU job has always meant something more to Bruce"

Also will say knowing Scott he's not going to do anything without having his man in place. Also as I believe @ISP said if Bruce is your guy then you need to go get him now, he's not getting any younger.

For everyone complaining about Pearl and his  cheating, the next time i catch you all speeding, i am going to raise hell with you.
Do i want to cheat ? No
Do i want to win? Hell yeah
Am i okay with winning if we may or may dip our toes into the gray area, or go "82 in a 65" per say. - Yes

I mean would we be happy if we were Duke Fans? Kansas? UNC? Tennessee? Uconn? Do we all honestly believe that they are 100% clean and follow the book to a tee? No way.

Not that it matters but I'm out on Pearl. 

Buyout, salary, age for his Auburn results no thanks. I know the hope would be that he could be better at IU than at Auburn, but we've been burned by that line of thinking for years now. Would have been a great hire during plenty of the previous searches.
