Given that the thing is pretty inevitable at this point, this guy’s take is the equivalent of, “Christmas is coming and it’s coming in December.”

I think recruiting outside of your school is like down to 1-2 months. As Urban Meyer said the other day recruiting these days is basically asking a recruit or his agent what his number is, then meeting it or saying no thanks.

I mean, there is active discussion in this thread about if they go the interim route or not so it doesn’t seem like anything is actually “settled”.

Yup!  And if he subsequently decided he didn't like college coaching, he'd have numerous opportunities to jump back into the NBA in a heartbeat.

IF (big IF) Stevens does come to coach at IU, just think of the fanbase anxiety every year worrying if he'll jump back to the NBA.

Babysitting 18-22 year olds? No. If you recruit correctly, you aren't babysitting a soul. 

Our top 4--- Brad, Beard, Pearl, and Dusty-- Brad is, in my eyes, clearly the best candidate-- proven the most, still young, less baggage, etc. I don't really think it's close. Dusty would be #2 for me, on that list. 

These seem like made-up concerns.

While I will probably stay in the skeptic column when it comes to Brad actually coming here, what does that timeline look like? The Celts are likely not going to be done playing basketball until June. Would he leave before the season was over? I would lean towards we should wait as long as he wants if he commits but do we really want to be without a coach for two+ months?

If it's someone like Stevens that is not necessarily needing to wait until the end of his season to leave his current job...just hire him now and have him start coaching at next Wednesday's game against NW. This would not only stop any and all boycotting at the next home game....it would be a wild and crazy sell out!

How are they made up concerns? Every career move he has made suggests otherwise. How many guys leave college for the NBA and come back successful or come back at all?

So I guess Baylor  was just a couple of spoonfuls short of the religious fervor during the  basketball team murder scandal in the early 2000’s. Good thing Drew brought the XL ladle to force the kool aid down everyone’s gullet! ! Plus he tried to blackmail a player by threatening to report their immigration status to stop them from committing to IU during the Crean era. I’m sure it was so he could “save” them. No thanks!

He also said after the IOWA loss that the fire mike woodson crowd was a small but loud contingent that had become so tiresome for him, dolson and buckner.  Then he alluded that this small crowd wasnt doing this because of performance but for other reasons of which you can probably guess.  Puts.

They’ll let him go if he wants out.  They have a draft to prep for in June.  You wouldn’t want Brad having anything to do with that if he’s leaving.
