Yeah, it's bad. Sampson was winning, and since the hires have been progressively worse.

I didn't like the Miller hire but could at least see a possibility. Woodson was just an abysmal choice that should've never been considered.

Most teams in the B10 will exploit that! That is the same crap defense we’ve been play the last 3+ years.  Way too many lazy close outs, a reflection of their coach.

Woodson probably doesn’t like Cignetti and the success he’s having. Making him look even worse and stand out like a sore thumb. It probably makes him mad, ha.

  It’d be so much easier to root for success this season if we knew 100% that Woodson was gonna be done regardless of the results. If there was some type of statement made saying he’s gonna hang it up and retire or whatever at seasons end, then people could rally around them and throw away the pitch forks. Probably won’t happen unless things get really out of hand. Just a tough edge to walk on not knowing if any amount of success will keep him around any longer than this season.

Some IUFB players had cigars after whipping Purdue all around the state last night, did Woodson smell it and try to butt in on their celebration? Like second hand success.

Yes, it would make this season more bearable and give us all something to look forward to but we all know MW will not go quietly into the night because he still thinks he does his job.

So there's definitely a chance. He's neck and neck with Miller for worst coach in the last 25 years.

I’d argue Sampson was the worst given what he did to the program or maybe we should just exclude him from the rankings. 
 

From there it’s hard to be as bad as Archie. But what’s even more amazing is in that time we’ve had almost zero success and only 4 coaches, 5 if we’re counting Sampson. That is an absurdly low amount of turnover for such dismal results. From the outside in, you have to wonder if the IU admin cares about basketball at all.

Sampson didn’t do anything we self imposed penalties on ourselves. Sampson has been the only serious hire since Knight

Been through this a bunch of times so I’ll just say I disagree and you can see my post history longer thoughts on it. If he didn’t do anything he wouldn’t have gotten a show cause and if we didn’t self impose we would have gotten the same. But if Sampson is a victim on this board then so be it….

 

Woodson needs to go tomorrow and ironically he’d leave the program better situated for the next guy than anyone since Knight.

Not counting Dakich as interim then IU has had 5 coaches since 2000 (Davis, Sampson, Crean, Miller, Woodson). Over 5 years per tenure, which is drug down by Sampson.

Patience hasn't been a problem for IU. You'd almost have to try to be as bad at hiring coaches as IU has been.

Annoyed we didn’t do this last year since we had a clear plan B in Dusty if we struck out on the Pearls of the world. I’m not seeing that plan B this year and even getting Dusty now would be unlikely

With all our resources and support the hires have been poor.

It’s beyond comprehension to me that IU Basketball has been to ONE Elite 8 since the 1992-1993 team. In over 30 years we have been to the Elite 8 ONCE while the formerly “who cares about them” UCONN program has won 6 Natty’s. Just sickening.

Agreed. We told on ourselves. If we’re 99% of the other D1 programs we never ever hear about phone calls and things move forward with probably a Title or 2 in hand.
