I can't remember if I said this when Crean was here, when Miller was here, or if perhaps I said it with Woodson. But imagine what it's going to feel like when we have a coach that actually coaches in a way that gives his team the best chance of being successful. We're going to think he's a savant when really he's just doing what countless other coaches would do.

Omg he actually said it again.

It’s hard for me to explain it, but we have eight games left and we have to figure it out." — Indiana basketball coach Mike Woodson

he might be able to drive the cart over it instead of spiraling out of control, down the wrong side of the hump and into a pond or tree like the last 22 times

Absolute cinema.

I kinda expect some spicy rumors tomorrow

They should announce he is retiring at the end of the season before we play Michigan for two reasons:

A) Try and minimize what has potential to be an explosive game in a negative way

B) (And more importantly for Mike) ... if he announces his retirement, he will be lumped in with Jim Larranaga and Leonard Hamilton in people's memories when this season is recapped. And he has no business being mentioned in the same breath as those two.

Let's be honest sampson was the only good coach we hired in 25 years. If we hired him now vs then he would skate and be our coach for 20 years. The stuff he went down for is now a joke. I mean with nil and online how many of these guys even go to a class. Seriously how hard is a good grade online. I haven't heard of a guy being academically ineligible in 15 years. I just hope we can finally go big and get it right.

Woodson doesn't deserve to finish the year, didn't deserve to start the year, didn't deserve to be hired.
Doesn't deserve a save face retirement. They made the mistake of hiring him, they deserve the black eye of having to fire him.
I agree he needs to stay and face the music.

I had forgotten about this anecdote. Was that in Season on the Brink?

Feinstein may have touched on it now that I think about it.  I first learned about it second hand from a friend of Knight who got a call informing him that he was responsible for raising $100,000 for the Landon Turner Trust Fund.  That was a tidy sum in 1981 – about half the amount Coach Knight was paid by Indiana University in salary that year.

Talk about inflation!  Forty-five years ago $200,000 could get you an NCAA championship.  These days just an invitation to the NIT will run you more than 20 times that much (if you can get boosters to kick in for the NIL).  I suppose coaching in the NIT would cost you extra.

Never thought I’d get here, but I’m on the Beard train.

Only way for it to happen is for Whitten to get out in front and be the one to sell it publicly. Will be plenty of naysayers…until he starts winning.

Big Red can sponsor the post-game show.

I have zero doubts Beard would win here, he can flat coach. I'd possibly be willing to give him a chance if it was demonstrated that his issues were solidly in the past; but I'm not the one doing the background check and I don't know what else there may be, IIRC it's been said there's issues that haven't become public.

IU would never make that call so it's irrelevant.

Buckner might just take an IU funded private jet out of town, again.

But he drinks too much. Lol. Let's hire Michael Lewis. I always thought knight was about second chances. Everyone online says beard.
