The state of Texas doesn't revere coaches of their third most popular sport as legend. Oh did I say IU could just pick any coach in the country and automatically get them? Those three are just about as likely to turn down UNC should they come calling. Your argument is ludicrous. The only point I was making is that IU has almost everything to offer a prospective coach and that recent lack of success as a deterrent was a ridiculous point. I guess you weren't able to follow that. I will try to consider your reading comprehension level next time You used the term white whale, not me. Those three along with Self and Hurley are widely regarded as the best coaches in the game. Two of the ones I mentioned turned Kentucky last year as did Hurley. And I understood exactly what you meant, you're just wrong in your assessment. IU's lack of success isn't a deterrent. The EXPECTATIONS for a team with IU's lack of success is most definitely a deterrent, at least for these "white whale's" you speak of.

Successful hypercompetitive coaches not considering IU because they are afraid of the "Expectations" is certainly a take. He said can you imagine my freshman year at IU we get Cignetti and my sophomore year we get Stevens. I said that would be awesome but let's slow it down for now. My son goes to the University of Florida. Last Friday night he was glued to his laptop watching IU play hard but lose at Mackey. *Then he went out - he's not a total loser ya know* If IU got Stevens, got a different 'wow' coach, or for that matter got a great mid-major coach that turned the program around, he'd be jumping out of his skin with excitement. thebigweave, OKHOOSIER, kottke and 2 others 5

And two things 1) I didn't use the term White Whale first just in response. 2)If you don't understand, IU's only White Whale is Brad Stevens. The term refers to an objective/person that is obsessively pursued but unlikely to catch. Hope this helps. str8baller, IndianaSconnie90, Artie86 and 1 other 3 1

Uspshoosier Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 IU in my opinion is still a top 10 job in the business despite the struggles for however long they have had them. Doesn’t matter who they hire this cycle. White Whale, Mid major coach, high level coach doesn’t matter IU will still be considered a top 10 job. OKHOOSIER and kottke 2

Both sons are UF grads. Todd Golden has really turned that program around. It was funny to watch them spank UGA by 30 points after they inexplicably "stole" Mike White away a few years back. Stuhoo 1
