No one should be surprised by a fifth Woodson season, imo. This is the same administration that hired him, gave him a million dollar raise, and brought him back for a fourth season. It’s been a while since doing what’s best for IU basketball has been the priority for those running things.

The circumstances are different now though. Last year at least the argument could be made that all Woody needed was his guys. Well he got them, and the team is massively underachieving. Students and fans have all turned, and it’s just going to get worse. There’s no logical argument to keep him. The administration’s hand will be forced.

And rich people generally don’t get rich by being dumb. They ponied up the cash for this year’s team because they thought it would work. It didn’t and they won’t again for this coach.

All this “woe is me” he could still get a 5th year is pointless. It’s not going to happen.

Going to go ahead and assume we won’t hear anything today. Tomorrow could be interesting? Wondering what timing administration would see as best?

Don't hold your breath.  Nothing is happening until end of season at the earliest.

I would think, and I'm basing this only on my gut -- which is pretty big these days, so I typically listen -- that even if we lose at Northwestern, we don't see any change.

It seems the "Fire Woodson" chants only got going once we started getting poleaxed by Illinois. If we lose to NW, but play well against the Twerps, that might buy more time. Now, if we lose both ...

(Honestly, I have no idea. Just guessing)

Yes.  What Woodson needs to avoid is a no effort 30 point blow out at home.  If they get some momentum going and the games are competitive, the crowd won't be the problem.  Just don't suck.

Moye and fife in the building today, is one of them going to finish this out

That would be amazing if it was Fife with Moye assisting. There would be absolutely zero tolerance for lack of effort.

Hey partner, Coach has got us to the tournament 2 of the last 3 years.

I think everyone who thinks we are going to go 11-9, make the NCAA tournament and Woodson will get a 5th year is forgetting several points:

1) Woodson will get out-coached by all the remaining coaches he will coach against

2) Even though Woodson and staff coached hard like their life depended on it, they will revert back to their lazy coaching because that is what they are used to and a leopard doesn’t change their spots

3) Because of their laziness, they won’t prepare or prepare thoroughly against most of the remaining games

4) MW and staff can’t coach

There are probably several more but you all get the point. Things will go back to mediocre and MW will either be fired or forced to retire because I am confident all the above will happen

Seriously?  Based off what happened to Fife from Woodson, I didn’t think he would step back on campus again as long as Woodson was the coach!  Wait a minute!

I’m guessing Dolson doesn’t feel the timing is right after a win. Hope I’m wrong.

No chance right now, imo. We are 5-3 and on the bubble. While clearly not good enough, optics won’t be right. Plus, I think we get Malik Back on Wednesday. If we get routed in that game, I guess Woody may opt out of the home game but I just don’t see it.

Yep exactly. What our expectations are and what the admins are I am guessing are much different

When I saw the way Woodson and the assistants celebrated it made me curious if they were told something like “if you lose the next 2 games we’ll have to let you go so we don’t have another scene like the Illinois game”.

It sure seemed like they knew something. Either yes we’re going out on a win or yes we saved our jobs for another game.

I mean, the athletic director wanting to move on but not being able to doesn’t inspire confidence.

It sure as hell doesn't.

It seems like he’s 99.9% gone imo.  Dolson was ready to move on last season.
And there in lies the problem. The AD is not allowed to make a firing decision it appears.

Where did you hear the AD didn't have control to fire him last year?  From the insiders here?  The same ones that have said he WILL have control this year?
