Would something like that actually happen though? Woodson end up not getting on the flight without some type of statement saying he’s not the coach any longer?

I doubt it - unless they spin it in a “something came up” and coach X will be the stand in for this game

Pretty much guaranteed that Woody's last game on the IU bench will also be Armond's last game on the IU bench. Now watch them name Armond the interim coach, as the only one on that bench that has college head coaching experience.

That would be so IU-like! Dolson smarter than that!. Could have seen Fred Glass do that though!

Winning instantly (because of the portal) doesn't translate to building and establishing a culture. We've had one coach do that the last 25 years (Crean) and he was by far and away our best coach since RMK. The portal alleviates 6-25 seasons in year 1, but if you're buying 7-8 guys every single offseason, you aren't building or establishing anything.

I'd much rather a coach spend his first year or two identifying, developing, and building a culture that sets up for much further long term success regardless of record than purchasing a bunch of rentals because it might mean you win 20 games and play in the NCAAT. Call me old school, call me an outlier, call me whatever you want but you aren't going to eliminate 30+ years of frustration in one or two seasons because of the portal. That I promise.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but it feels like we spent about 350 pages last offseason litigating Team Mercenary™️ and how it was not a recipe for long term success.

We have 500 pages of you not being an outlier lol, most of us hated having a one, then zero, then one freshman class. Hell, the FMW thread was like 500 pages in before Liam even deecommitted.

On Armond Hill...it has been said that he has a medical condition. I'm not being flippant at all but I don't think it's necessarily fair to call him lazy for his low-energy and sleepy appearance during games on the sideline. He is, by all accounts, a very nice man. It's probably very fair to say he should not be involved as a key member of a high-major college basketball staff given the medical condition but still, I thought it worth pointing out given the jokes being made at his expense.

So Woodson’s lazy approach to recruiting and over reliance on the portal to make up for that must have really turned you off.

When the demands and expectations of the job require you to win overnight, what other choice do you have?

The fan base HAD to give Crean 2-3 years because he literally started with nothing. And he enjoyed the most success by far. I don't believe that to be a coincidence. Do you?

So you're telling me that if whoever is hired comes in, guts the roster clean, and says he's not going the mercenary all-star route year 1 you're going to live with .500 results for the first year or two? I call bull****.

So the pressure of the job caused Woodson to be a lazy and unsucesseful recruiter of high school players? LOL

Got it. That must be why he struck out on all of the high school guard prospects he went after after he got JHS.

woody being let go before ohio st game?

No shot.  The earliest would be before our next home game, and that's only if we continue to get our ***** kicked like the last 2 games.

Does anyone know if this council met yesterday? I'm hearing they did which would be interesting.

Just asked my colleague on the committee. But, generally these committees don’t actually know much or engage in substantive issues outside of faculty related concerns. Trust me on that one, I am on and have been on many campus-level committees like this.

I've seen it posted by others that there was a "emergency meeting" yesterday afternoon...I don't know if it is an echo chamber where it just gets repeatedly posted out of wishful thinking or the meeting actually did occur. If it did occur and was not a regularly scheduled one, there is really only one thing it could have been in regards to: the best way to get rid of the hump.
