That is punching above your weight in a giant freaking way. Literally looks like a KissCam where they’re dating the people on the other side of them.

He actually was Oats top recruiter while landing a 3rd ranked class.  Franklin’s Law of Thermodynamics holds true here.

Speaking of wives, that should be something Dolson gives some consideration to.

I wouldn’t recognize Archie’s wife nor Woodsons wife if I was standing next them at a checkout counter. I find that a little odd. It’s almost as if their families were not all in/not a part of creating a culture/ never present

Trust me, Woodson's family (daughters) is "all in" and "a part of creating a culture" with the Woodson crap train. As for the Mrs., gotta say, the only image I've ever seen of her was her being all pissed off having to go to a HS sectional game with the Wizard of Broad Ripple.

It was a great trial run for them. They got the top up and comer and got the opportunity to give it a test drive without committing to him long term and being saddled with a $20m buyout when he didn’t pan out.

now that he is panning out seemingly, they need to go secure him long term.

There are two different buyouts:

- The one if May chooses to leave (i.e. gets hired away) started at $5M and will be $4M after this season.

- The one if May gets fired is 70% of his remaining salary. After this season it will be at ~$11M.

Yeah, it's not $20 but it's not $5M either. It is how an initial contract should be although if I'm a Michigan fan I'd want the buyout for May leaving to be higher.

I wonder what Woodson's buyout is for leaving by his choice. It would be hilarious if it was $0.

What is your problem? Don’t you know the administration has already shown itself to be incompetent without Stevens’s rumors. Why you so worried about it?

The same administration that hired coach Cig. Also this is a new administration so no they haven't shown to be incompetent

Man, being sick for the last 5 days has sucked, but this thread has definitely provided some distraction. Just wish that I would quit getting disappointed by each ESPN notification, on my phone, doesn't say MW has chosen to retire or IU and MW agree to part ways!!! Come on notifications, let the next one be the one, lol.

If the search gets to the point where Brownell and Pitino are in serious contention we are well and truly cooked lol

From an optics point of view yeah probably however IU as  a program is a middle of the pack B1G team. Not many middle of the pack programs for 30 years plus gets a white whale.   IU might have to grind a little bit before jumping into the top of the sport.  Can’t skip steps and if the steps are lower coaches that what people want then that’s where the IU program is

Maybe since you said it this time it won't fall on deaf ears. I doubt it though.

I’ve said it multiple times over the years.   That’s just my opinion.   I just don’t get bent out of shape if others hope and talk about getting the white whales.   Doesn’t effect me especially on a free message board

Just so I follow we have to get a mid-major coach because we are a middle-of-the-pack Big Ten team or do we have to go that route because we aren't allowed to skip steps and get a big-time coach?

If a big-time coach will turn down doubling their salary because we aren't where were at as a program right now then we should probably take their name off the list.
