Fire Coach Woodson Thread

The win at Ohio St wasn’t expected.   People can hate on the coach and team all they want but that was a good win for IU.   I’m guessing most that post in here are done with college basketball and don’t really watch and go by box scores the next day.   Ohio St is a tourney quality team that lost a bunch of close games in conference to teams that are solidly in or right on the bubble.

OSU is a pretty damn good team, with their primary weakness as rebounding and defending the interior. In other words - tailor made for us to exploit with our consistently best player, Oumar Ballo. Then, OSU's best interior player and rebounder (though not a post), Devin Royal, missed the game, which was 'fortunate'.  So IU beat them ... in overtime.

So while everything needed to break right for IU to win at OSU, it indeed did happen exactly that way. And we got a pretty damn good win.

The administration is fine.  Or so we have been told not to believe everything we read on rumor boards and QUIT blaming the administration on all the failures

Either we have an incompetent administration or a completely neutered one. Either way we’re in trouble.

I’m talking maybe at wisky or the Breslin center. Games we wouldn’t expect a good team to win at.

Bob Knight was coaching IU the last time they won in Madison and MSU seems like the cream of the B1G crop at the moment, so I wouldn't be holding my breath.

By the display at NW, even opposing fans know we are underachieving!

Yeah, it's ridiculous to think that with all the negative pub Woodson has been getting that coaches wouldn't know why he was fired if they fired him mid-season. Everyone who pays even a little bit of attention to college basketball knows. If they didn't know, a quick google would make it obvious.

As long as he’s done at the end of the season, I’d rather IU not fire him mid season. He deserves all these boos he has coming his way.

I'd love (and welcome) an announcement even if we let him continue going through the motions until March.

Don't forget that Woodson and co actually coached the team in that game, too. I think even Sleepy Armond was alert and engaged.

The Tank Train is asking for another L tomorrow vs Maryland. We need the students chanting "Fire Mike Woodson", we need loud boo's from the general folks there, we need a sloppy performance, we need Twitter to start rioting!

A great beginning comes from a great suffering.

He's getting booed off the court at Assembly Hall, and Fans home and away are chanting fire Mike Woodson, he has talked about the outside noise in two different press conferences and you don't think the athletic department is having discussions about his job? Come on now.

I know that but what has nothing to do with what the administration is thinking. You came on here saying they talked to assistants about being an interim coach and now people actually believed that. To me this causes a fire storm when this doesn't happen and everyone blames the administration for backing down.  I just don't think those talks ever happened because no AD would go to the assistants before they fired the HC.

I think the IU staff actively coached the team in the Northwestern loss this week. The difference is that Nicholson had a much better ability to keep Ballo relatively in check and IU's usual defensive lapses and bad techniques were exposed by Northwestern's shooters.

Just heard Dusty May say that he doesn't ever want to coach concepts and principles in-game; that's something that needs to be instilled over the countless hours of practice. Dusty said he only wants to point out some select things he notices during games, but otherwise he wants to say as little as possible so that his team can focus on the game, not think about what the coach is thinking.

Safe to say that IU's problems arise from lack of connectivity, plan, and technique over those countless hours of practice.

We can disagree. I could explain how the talks happened but I told someone I wouldn't talk about it anymore because the staff doesn't like it.

The more I think about the reason we are in this complete mess is ferguson. Sure quinn pushed the 4th year but without complete moron ferguson writing checks with the cooks money none of these guys are here. Ferguson is a bad dude who only cares about his boy. He clearly doesn't care about the program it's personal to him. Now he will write the Bosnian a massive check. It's just mind blowing an 86 year old clown is running men's bbal.

We will just have to wait to see what the results of the games are

We just gotta wait and see what the results of the game are on Sunday to determine if the Optics are right to think about putting together a plan to put the plan in motion that has already taken place.

Hold up.

So the administration had plans to fire Mike Woodson mid-season, told assistants this was going to be the plan, couldn't get any assistant to take the interim job, and then just acted like nothing happened? Lol.

I truly don't think even you don't believe half the stuff you share on here. That or you're extremely gullible.

IU is not firing a coach mid-season, especially one of their own. Just isn't happening. The best this fan base can hope for is a joint statement from Woodson/administration announcing that he's stepping down at the conclusion of the season. If/when that happens, I expect it to be sometime before IU's last game, a home game on senior day.
